HipHopDX Premiere: Dallas, Texas native Chromat!k has apparently been in the studio putting the finishing touches on his new EP, Man On The Moon 3: The Sad God’s Arrival and decided Monday (November 21) was the right time to unveil it. Beginning with “Side Effects” and culminating with “Eden,” there are a few welcomed surprises peppered throughout the project, including a curious Eurythmics sample that starts “Murky Waters” featuring Narco. Overall, it’s an EP dedicated to his hero, Kid Cudi.
“This is my side story to [Kid] Cudi’s legacy,” Chromat!k explains to DX. “This is the part where I attempt to help the man who inspired me and a whole generation of youth during his time of need. This is me showing Cudi how his story and sound has affected so many of us. Throughout my life, I have had multiple musical inspirations. One of the most influential artists of the past 10 years that has helped me find my purpose in life and helped me craft my actual sound is Kid Cudi. He showed me how to use my talent for a greater purpose while being honest and feeling emotions so deep it made you comfortable to sing them aloud. This is my ‘Thank You.’ I am honored to be a product of this musical genius while still having my own identity and sound. In no way am I saying I am better than Cudi or trying to insult him. I hope I made you proud.”
So far, Chromat!k has toured with and/or opened for notable artists like Lil Yachty, Post Malone, Lil Durk, OG Mack, Waka, Post Malone, PlayBoi Carti, and Maxo Keenan. The determined young artist is also working on a short film for Man On The Moon 3 that will be out early 2017.
