HipHopDX Premiere: In what sounds like a jilted lover in the midst of a furious rant, New York-bred, Los Angeles-based rapper Koncept lays it all on the line with “Never Again,” next up in his #ChampagneKonnyThursdays series. Produced by Optiks, the lyrics are all too telling.

“Mistakes are okay as long as you learn from them. 2016 has been one of the craziest years of my life,” Koncept tells DX. “Well, now everyone’s considering Donald Trump being elected as our president. I’ve lost people I loved. Lost people who I thought were closest to me. I’ve learned people’s true colors and realized I was surrounded by a few people who were not who they portrayed.

“I will never let that happen to me again,” he adds. “I keep my circle small and my guard up. Be careful of the people you trust. Mistakes are okay, in fact, they can be great as long as you learn, grow, and become stronger from them. I’ve definitely made some mistakes, but I’m thankful for them because they’ve made me open my eyes wider and to be a little more precautious and wiser in each of my next steps. It’s only forward from here.”
