Wantagh, New York singer-songwriter and musician Torii Wolf is the first female artist to have her entire project produced by DJ Premier. As anticipation continues to build for the Preemo-produced album, Flow Riiot, they’ve shared “Shadows Crawl (Open Eyes DJ Premier Remix)” featuring Rapsody.
“Torii has such a weird, wicked style,” Premier said in a press release. “It’s just very left field—reminiscent of a Bjork or something like that; image-wise, there is no comparison. Subject-wise, Torii is in a whole different place.”
“Shadows Crawl” was the last track recorded for Flow Riiot and happens to be the only track Preemo did not specifically create for Wolf. In fact, the track was initially sent to Yuna who ended up picking another demo from Premier. As the beneficiary of the beat, Wolf wrote “Shadows Crawl” on the spot and cut the vocals, which is now the second single from their collaborative project.
