After releasing “Don’t Wait Up” in September, Bay Area rapper Tree Thomas returns with the Rioretti-produced single, “Weakend,” which finds him reminding himself to smile, stay strong, and live like every day is the weekend.

“Let’s party like the weekend, yeah/no ‘Cant’s’ baby we can, yeah/fuck the devil, never weakend, yeah/Check my eyes when I’m speaking, yeah,” he spits, playing on the words ‘weaken’ and ‘weekend.’

“Weakend is telling us to take advantage of now right and today, and dismiss any negativity that comes our way,” Tree Thomas says in an email. “That includes the devil and the many tricks up his sleeve. I wrote this song sometime last year after an amazing trip to Maui, where I picked up the amazing summertime vibe.”

While summer 2016 has come to end, “Weakend” carries that vibe throughout the nearly three-minute track.
