HipHopDX Premiere: After the August release of “Shotgun,” Chris Valentine has been in the studio creating new material. His new single, “R2D,” is produced by the talented J Glaze (Young Money, Q-Tip) and is intended to make the listener feel, and “R2D” accomplishes just that. Valentine approaches the ever-so-common “ride ’til I die” conversation with a more subtle and sensitive touch, assuring those around him he’ll remain loyal.

Valentine has had his share of people coming in and out of his life, including an old label situation that turned sour. All of this became his inspiration for “R2D.” He not only raps, but also sings on the bridge and hook. His ability to turn his voice into a melodic instrument also takes the listener on a lyrical journey. “On one hand I can count all the people I love/Same hand I can count all the people I trust,” illustrating how much he truly values loyalty.
