As he prepares to release his new collaborative EP New History, slated to be released September 9 with Grammy-nominated producers Cookin’ Soul, DMV MC SmCity releases the first single from the project titled “Black Moses,” featuring Planet Asia, also produced by Cookin’ Soul.
Lyrically riveting, “Black Moses” speaks on many themes including the mass incarceration of black men and the general lack of common freedoms for oppressed people. On the song, SmCity even slyly touches upon a different kind of slavery, one born out of record label contracts.
