HipHopDX Exclusive Premiere: Pennsylvania artist Drew Breeze drops his first single “Gold Soul,” off of his new EP Hush, due out this September. Drew’s been dropping mixtapes, EPs, and albums steadily since 2011, but Hush is the first body of work he’s released that fully and truly encompasses everything he is about. The project is a compilation of autobiographical songs that you can chill and ride to with, “Gold Soul” being the one exception.
“Gold Soul” feels like a sonic assault on your senses with Drew coming at you hard to explain some of his struggles, with everything from the rap game itself, relationships, substances, and more. If “Gold Soul” does prove to be the one aggressive track in an EP mostly catered to summer night drives with people you care about, then it’s a welcomed exception because who can be laid back and calm all the time?
