HipHopDX Exclusive Premiere: After releasing his debut album Saviors in April, Toronto-based Shan Vincent de Paul returns with a hazy new anthem entitled “2Proud2.”  Taking on Jam City’s original track “Proud,” SVDP unveils an entirely different approach from the high-energy intensity found on his album with a more tranquil flow. He describes the song as a healing song where one’s pride is not welcome:

“If you don’t let her sit on your face, and wash her feet, you don’t really love her like that. I wanted to write a love song completely void of any ego or pride. A healing song for lovers trying to navigate their way through their own paradise.”

SVDP effortlessly glides over the track switching between a nimble flow reminiscent of a Bones Thugs and short melodic bursts that make for an infectious listening experience.

Shan is 1/4 sideways, a Toronto-based crew also consisting of La+ch, Michah, and Coleman Hell (of 2015’s hit “2 Heads”). The group of like-minded artists handle everything from songwriting and production to art design and videos.  Shan is currently working on his sophomore project to be released in the fall.
