Chicago-born/Atlanta-based rapper Canon releases a new track titled “Eagles.” The song is the first single from Canon’s forthcoming Loose Canon Vol. III album, slated for release on September 2 on Reflection Music Group.
On the song produced by Groc, Canon challenges listeners to view life’s obstacles from a broader perspective, rapping, “I’m just here to fly above the stat quo / I don’t pledged allegiance to the mass, No / If there’s freedom in God let your flow show / Man I’ve been reaching forward let the past go.”
Canon explains, “What I am saying is if you really want to see things work the way they do you got to get above it.” Considering racial tensions and a hotly contested presidential election, the song’s relatable message is especially relevant. Aside from the song’s compassionate narrative, it delivers a knocking, thematic track that sets the pace for Canon’s poignant, rapid-fire flow.
The music video will be released in coming weeks.
