New Orleans-Richmond rap collective The Real Untouchables aka TRU had a number of members over the years, but the boss named Master P was who graced us with one of their greatest hits overall. I’m Bout It, Bout It was the hit record off of TRU’s third studio album, the creatively-named True, putting the group that then consisted of Master P, C-Murder, and Silkk the Shocker into heavy club and radio rotation. The song featured Mia X, the No Limit Records signee who would go on to release three albums under the label from later in 1995 through 1998, the second going RIAA gold. The entire True album was produced by The Medicine Men, the four-man Louisiana-based production crew then known as Beats By the Pound. TRU saw a lull in releases between 1999’s Da Crime Family and 2005’s The Truth, followed by the disbandment of the group. It’s a shame that had to happen, but another spin of this record should soften the blow.
