    • Nafa

I agree with your list. @ anonymous. Hip hop is dead wasn't that great and it definitely is not in the same class as it was written. 1. Illmatic 2. It was written 3. Stillmatic 4. Distant Relatives 5. Life Is Good The rest were alright but not strong. I am and Nastramdous had classic tracks on the album but were week overall. God son was good though. I don't rate hip hop is dead, streets disciple or untitled. But Life is good is a classic. Minus that silly summer on smash swizz beats track.

    • Anonymous

I'd put Hip Hop is Dead number 2, but apart from that I agree with your list.

Life is Good already a classic, doesnt really matter if the pop culture goes out to buy it. Hip hop knows this is a classic. Best Hip Hop album in years...this gonna be a blue print for many MC's to come... Finnaly a more mature and intelectual lookout on the world. LMAO about all this Jay vs Nas bs. did yall noticed that the mc's moved on from that one? like grown man can....some really come with their frustration like they b little girls

Nas released the most horrible track of all time, Summer On Smash.

    • Anonymous

@Nafa I agree with you on those but you can't leave "A Queens Story" of that list, because that was pure artistry.

    • Nafa

Just got the album and the first thing I did was delete summer on smash. Why? Because I saw swizz beats produced it. If you listen to this album with out that song this album is easily a 4.5 / 5 album. This is a much more mature sounding album. It's like a Modern day Roots album. It's very cinematic. I think he went for that album that watch the throne failed to be or that the roots latest album pulled off. I think that distant relatives album has done a lot for his confidence and ear for music. Because all of sudden he has released to potential classics in the space of 2 years. My picks from the album Loco-Motive (Feat. Large Professor) Daughters Reach Out (Feat. Mary J. Blige) Worlds An Addiction (Feat. Anthony Hamilton) You Wouldnt Understand (Feat. Victoria Monet) Stay (Produced by No I.D.) Cherry Wine (Feat. Amy Winehouse) All the songs are good but cherry wine is something special. With that jazz sound. Obviously locomotive is straight fire. Worlds an addiction is addictively good. Great album.

  • Anonymous

Nas couldn't hang with Black Thought, he can't even outshine Ross.

  • Anonymous

Nas is good, but overrated as fuck. Too many features, wasn't he or somebody of his camp saying they going for a sound very close to the 90's, that they even wanted to do most songs without hooks? Damn, this nigga be lying for promotion.

  • THEDON

So this is what the cat in the chorus is saying: "Love, I'll trade you love I've traded fire with you long enough Is that all you brung? It's not love That's fucked up, but I saved your soul Roll that up" Can someone PLEASE tell me the symbolism of this chorus? Because I don't understand it. But it seems very deep.

    • Anonymous

He saved their soul by exposing them to a better place. I think when he says "roll that up", its a quip for us to take in what he just stated, kinda like an outro. When I first heard it, I thought of the Outkast song 'Spottieottiedopalicious Angel' where at the end of his verse, Big Boi says, "Go on and marinate on that for minute". He leaves in the hands of the listener to digest what he just said.

    • THEDON

But when he said "But I saved your soul, roll that up" What did he mean by that?

    • Anonymous

You should add that to the RapGenius entry of this song.

    • dre

From what I gathered, The first line is an agreement/common understanding that two individuals are looking for the same thing , love. The second and third line, one individual (assuming Nas) is expressing they are fed up with the turmoil, not reaching what they are looking for, love. In the fourth line he expresses that he's upset about the ways of the other individual, but seems to have closure with realizing/accepting that he has opened up the other individuals eyes, exposing them to a better place

Time to end this G.O.A.T. foolishness. In this constant debate about Jay-Z being the best ever I read things like "Nas will destroy Jay-Z" or "Eminem got a better flow than Jay" Those are OPINIONS. When will you fools learn that you can't win a debate with OPINIONS. Every rapper has a different style based on where they are from, the time period in which they were most successful, and their unique personality. We all can go on for days about our personal preferences but in a debate criteria like this is completely IRRELEVANT and automatically BIASED. The only way to win a debate is with cold hard FACTS. And the fact of the matter is that, when you weigh all of the tangible criteria (Sales, Critical Acclaim, Consistency, Longevity, and Impact) Jay-Z makes the strongest case for the G.O.A.T. Eminem has sold nearly twice as much as Jay-Z, and he is Jay's equal when it comes to longevity and impact. But Em lacks the consistency or critical acclaim that Jay-Z has (Im not talkin cult/fanboy classics, Im talkin CERTIFIED classics. XXL/Rolling Stone/Source approved) Eminem is VERY close though. Nas has enjoyed more critical acclaim and more overall respect in the hip-hop community through the years. And he's definitely equal to Jay with longevity and impact. But he hasn't been no where near as much of a consistent presence in hip-hop as Jay has. And he is obviously lacking in the sales department. Lil Wayne just may be the most consistent rapper of all time. He's no slouch when it comes to longevity and impact either. His glaring flaw? In his 12 year career Lil Wayne has yet to drop a truly critically acclaimed classic album (and it can be done in this climate. just look at kanye's discography). Also, contrary to popular beleif, Wayne lacks in the sales department. Sure, Tha Carter III and IV are blockbuster albums, but his OVERALL sales of 10 mil US pale in comparison to Jay-Z's 31 mil. 2pac is a touchy subject. When it comes to impact, pac takes the cake. No other rapper touched the world like 2pac did. He, like Em, has also sold more than Jay and he was very consistent in his time. Sadly, 2pac passed before his time which allowed Jay-Z to surpass him in longevity and critical acclaim. LL Cool J was the prototype for what a G.O.A.T. could be. He has enjoyed the most longevity, and he was fairly consistent, but his sales, acclaim and overall impact are no where near the likes of 2pac, Eminem, and ofcourse Jay-Z. Biggie, Rakim, Common, Snoop, the list goes on. All of these MC's are great but none of them have the total G.O.A.T. package like Jay-Z does. Jay-Z is the 3rd highest selling rapper of all time, and the richest. He's one of the most acclaimed (perhaps only rivaled by his boy Kanye). He dropped multi-platinum albums YEARLY from 96'-03', and he is still going strong today. He's been in the game since 88'. He's impacted hip-hop in countless ways from starting one of the 1st successful MC-owned record labels, to being the 1st non-athlete with a signature shoe, to surpassing the likes of Elvis with #1 albums. Jay-Z is without question the Greatest MC Of All Time. Period. You don't have to listen to him everyday (Im currently on my Kendrick wave). You don't even have to like him. But for goodness sake, RESPECT THE FACTS

    • Jay

Nas lacked in sales which which he did not cause most of his albums go plat check the records , Nas chose to make real hip hop and not go pop to appeal to labels and white suburbia to sell records . Which Jay did to sell more cause he cannot compete when Nas on a real hip hop level and Jay always said he was about the money. No other rapper stay true like Nas and still hot. I hear legends like Common say Nas the best and and Busta say Nas the best you dudes don't got all the facts you need go listen to all Nas material for u judge and the listen to Jay. Record sales don't make u a better rapper or main stream success especially when most of these rappers is only talking ignorance to sell records sell outs exactly what pac was talking about they want to make him start going pop so he won't talk about the truth. When has came with stillmatic then Jay want to be more conscious.

    • Anonymous

Like you said, these are YOUR opinions. Quality is subjective, like how different people look for different aspects in the work put out by artists. Therefore consistency for example, is also subjective since others might enjoy the music by the artists you consider weak. And also Jay-Z did not make all of his money from selling music alone. Most of his money came elsewhere and so that aspect should not be a relevant factor in judging his rapping abilities.

    • SDK

YEAH HE'S IN MY TOP 5 LOL BUT BETTER THAN NAS PAC AND BIGGIE? WHAT WE TALK ABOUT NIGGAS? WHAT WE TALK ABOUT?

    • keepit100

When it comes to being the GOAT, it comes down to what is more important? IMPACT? or Influence? Impact is how many people you connected with, influence is leaving behind a skill for others to study. At the end of the day, IMPACT far outweighs influence to me, because it's all about how I connect with the ARTIST, regardless of how versatile they are on the mic. That is why 2Pac was and still is the GOAT because he left impact on the entire world, Biggie, Big L , Jay, and many others did as well but no where near the same as Pac.

    • Patches

This post is the truth. But sadly it will do nothing to end any debate. Nice read though.

jay z - $450mil, 14 grammys, 5 classic albums nas - $6mil in debt, 0 grammys, ONE classic album over 19 yrs, and signed up 2 def jam, no hit songs since 2006 end of story

    • Ngroplz

If u owe me $10 does that mean yo net worth is minus $10??? dont make me laugh. Man United owes close to 500mill but the club net worth is 1.5 billion. Their in debt but can service it [the debt]. Nas's Net worth is uknown to you but you claim such pathetic logic. They said he owed 6mill not that hez worth minus 6 However how enormous is Nas's pockets is a pop-quiz to gossipers... Nas Victory ft John Legend

    • Jay

Is lebron better than Jordan because he is going to make more money over the course of his career? Idiot one makes more money cause the business at different level because of the people that got it there before them and they reap in benefits.

    • Anonymous

Lmao 5 classic albums, if blueprint and black album are classics then so are stillmatic and god's son, so realistically Jay has 3 classics while nas had those plus illmatic and IWW which equals 4. Jay's richer because he's a better businessmen, it doesn't affect the quality of his music. Nas' debt problem is a rumor that originated from TMZ (not a credibility source) that other sites caught. Try again

    • Born in 86

      Nice try Kelis !

  • Real shit

LOL. Wow. The only guys who re-write history are Nas groupies. People just too young or really acting like they totally forgot the hell he caught about 12-13 years ago? He releases a few mediocre, overpromoted albums after that and is the GOAT out of nowhere? LMAO. Nobody cared about Illmatic around the time it dropped and IWW was deemed the biggest sellout piece of shit ever. But yeah, internet lames who weren't around then stay revisioning Nas' career

    • jay

This is exactly why rap is where its at today with all nonsense and lies cause we got a bunch of people who believe and go by main stream and the stuff corporate puts in front of them like they don't put shit in Place to make money. You dudes need history lessons beyond 1997 and rap lessons for 80's. I guess if lil wayne or drakeat the end of their carreer sells more records and makes more money than Jayz or who ever that makes them the greatest rappers. Idiots Nas Pac and Bigg and a lot others got rap to the point to sell that much and make money other dudes just reap the benefits by coming in when it was at its peak to make money. Idiots.

@realtalk Im confused. Why would eminem be in that list? And why would I take out Scarface? Scarface is a legend and has influenced many rappers including artists like tupac etc Your not comparing eminem to Scarface are you? It's a hall of fame list meaning any rapper from 1 to 10 is one of the greatest ever. All are better than each other in one way or another. 1. Biggie 2. Rakim 3. Krs one 4. Nas 5. Jay z 6. Tupac 7. Ll cool j 8. Scarface 9. Ice cube 10. Kool g rap Now explain to me how eminem makes that list. Eminem a legend. But so is big pun and big L. And there are others rappers like Masta ace, slick Rick, Big daddy Kane which are more suited to be on that list than eminem. And rappers like AZ and jeru the damaja probably are a head of him as well. Eminem probably a top 25 rapper which. Means he's one of the greatest of all time anyway but not top 10 my man. There are so many great emcees brother. If someone says eminem ain't one of the greats there crazy but he ain't probably top 20 yet. And he has fallen off so I'm not sure if he can get back on track. I base his skill on his first and second album because that's what I remember when he was at his peak and killing it. Slim shady lp is still one of my favorite albums. And is probably in my top 100 hip hop cd's collection I got at home. Peace.

    • BK

      @Nafa 1000% Cosign!

    • BigFozzyBear

1 - Em 2 - Redman 3 - Tupac 4 - Nas 5 - Old DMX 6 - Andre 3000 7 - Bone Thugz 8 - Immortal Technique 9 - Yelawolf (Trunk Muzik) 10 - K'Naan I also don;t see what the big deal is with Big, he was good but in my opinion Em is just so much better with his lyrics and don't beleive he has fell off if anything hes became more lyrical so that he can live upto his hype, meaning people always say he only sells because he is white, so I see him doing his lyrical metiphors to show that he has some serious skill, also feel he raps about what he knows unlike allot of other rappers lie or bend the truth, even Big and Pac lie. But atleast with Em you know when he's serious or just fucking about. Redman is a beast also :)

    • Anonymous

Nafa: I could give you a million reasons why Biggie shouldn't be on the list at all. Let alone #1. First album classic. The second album had an album worth of material that shouldn't have been on the album. Go listen to Junior Mafia's album. Big wrote most of it. It's terrible. Besides two songs it's pretty bad. Glad you mentioned Puff. Thank you big for bringing up the guy who ruined rap. Once record executives realized a no talent hack can go platinum. Well. Welcome to hip hop today. Me myself wouldn't put Jay z on the list either. I would take Ghost Face over Jay any day. But I'm not a fronting ass nigga. As real s it gets. Jay's entire career is built on fronting. Fake niggas love fake things. I always say you can tell a fake nigga by their favorite rapper. You a Ross, Big and Jay fan your most likely a fake fronting ass nigga. They are the only people who could be into those guys. I look at rap by subject matter and concept. So by subject matter and concepts Biggie and Jay would have to be off the list because they basically ran with everything Pac ever did. Name a concept that Big used that he didn't get from Pac. You can't. Same for Jay. Who was running with the worst part of Big. The part that is still ruining hip hop till this day. The part that bought in the drug dealer I got this I got that era. That was Jay in the 1997-2001 era. Faking it. Anybody can do that. Anybody can name stuff and call it a song. Go listen to Junior Mafia's album and you will know exactly what I mean. If you go song for song, subject matter for subject matter. Concept for concept. The two greatest rappers to ever live are KRS1 and 2Pac. It's not an opinion. It's a fact. No rapper can go song for song, hit for hit, subject matter for subject matter with Pac and KRS. We already went through it. I had to prove it to a few homies. Song for song they are the best. Big doesn't have enough songs to be on this list. Sorry. I know you miss him but he doesn't. His double album is a mess compared to the greatest rap double CD of all time. All Eyez on Me. Jayz Double CD was a mess also. I'll take Ghost over Jay Z because he didn't run with someone else's shit and when it comes to originality, concepts and keeping it the fuck 100. That's Ghost. You can have the fronting ass nigga.

    • Nafa

I could give you a million reasons why biggie is number 1 but your 2 studio argument is flawed. First biggies second album is a double disc which is 2 albums worth of material rolled into one. So that's 3 albums worth of material over 2 albums. Secon Second he released a a group album with junior mafia which he featured through out. Not to mention puffys first album which he featured heavily on as well. So that's four albums worth of material. Now let's add the countless features, freestyles, and mix tapes tracks. Now you probably have five albums worth of material. But in saying all that most artists are judged on the best work. I judge jay-z on what he did in the 90s and especially reasonable doubt which is a classic. Mainly from 95 to 2001 which was when he was at his peak lyrically. I judge nas on illmatic and it was written and individual tracks since than. Now he has made albums since then but he always has Classic tracks even on weak albums. Ny state of mind pt 2 and can't get me for example. Eminem I judge purely on his first two albums and that's why I rate him so highly. If I never heard slim shady lp or Marshall matters lp and only heard recovery I wouldnt rate him the top 100 rappers ive heard. I rate big l and big pun highly and even though they weren't around long like biggie I rate them highly because what they did do in those years was bring it better than most. Longevity is important but not everything. If nas died after it was written and illmatic I would rate him still in my top 10. It's about your ear for hip hop. If you one of those niggas who been really listening to hip hop for along time than you know what's up. I'm talking about those cats who been listening to jeru th damaja or tragedy khadafi. Those cats who still own a scratched up cd of the low end theory by tribe called quest. Or the cats who had public enemy blazing there headphones and a Chain around there neck with Africa as the symbol. I'm talking to hip hop heads who laugh when they hear how great nicki Minaj is and than go and listen to queen latifah to feel good again about you female emcee. Those cats who were down with the roots before jimi Fallon. Those cats who loved snoop, biggie, mobb deep, tupac, Capone noreaga, doggpound, junior mafia, jeru, jay-z, nas, az, wu tang clan, redman and all those cats who mad whip hop golden in the 90s. For those cats who a dissappointed in today's standards of hiphop. That's who I'm talking to.

    • Anonymous

Why does so many people have BIG ranked so high off of 2 studio albums? BIG could easily be replaced by Thought, Pun, BIG L, Kool Keith, etc...G Rap is 10 on your list and he's better than half the cats on your list. Lyrically, BIG is not in my top 10, but that's just my opinion.

"Hov shut him down with one line" That's why Hov >>>>>>>>>>> Nas. Nas can't get to the point. Like he tried and failed to shut down his critics, when it took Jay a few lines.

    • Nafa

And there are others rappers like Masta ace, slick Rick, Big daddy Kane which more suited to be on that list than eminem. And rappers like AZ and jeru the damaja probably are a head of him as well. Eminem probably a top 25 rapper which. Means he's one of the greatest of all time anyway but not top 10 my man. Peace.

where are u gettin your information from? fake thugs in the suburbs? jay aint allowed in the south bronx? he was there not so long ago and im from the south bronx so this is news to me...ll wrote reasonable doubt? wouldnt his name be on the album? its not you dumbass and ll doesnt have any intellectual rhymes in any of his albums so that doesnt even make sense and jays voice cracks all the time in interviews unless you got video footage of him crying stfu lets go down the list of nas's fuck ups nas was scared of pac too pac was the illest rapper in the game at that point and the most paid big was scared of pac too and set him up on some bitch shit so thats irrelevant nas got destroyed by hov on black republicans and i do it for hip hop. rick ross bodied nas on usual suspects, something he can never do to hov nas signed to jay when he was pres of def jam so jay was his boss at one point nas always tries to drop an album around the same time jay does and jays albums get more sales and better reviews, all the time. nas made a song about 50 cent. hov shut him down with one line lol jay-z fucked his bm the mother of the same daughter that he made the daughter track for kinda fucked up huh? i think thats enough for now tho you have no argument

    • QB

^^^ Jay was no more than a 3gram crack dealer. Jay got chase out of Marcy Projects. Jay was shook at JFK Airport when Jungle ran up on him. Jay was scared to death of Tupac. Jay ruined Def Jam. Jay snitch on Biggs. Jay is glorified doorman at the Barclay arena. Jay cried on Hot 97 after Nas gutted him.

    • Anonymous

Who cares? Jay & Nas are both dope emcees. Get the fuck over it & grow up. smh

    • RealTalk

@Nafa you put Scarface in the top hall of fame and Eminem didn't even make the list..yeah you don't know shit about hip hop

"Jay never had bitches." Jay fucked Nas' girlfriend, left condoms in his baby seat, put his dick into Foxy and wifed Beyonce.

    • Anonymous

"And Nas ended his hip hop career." Well, if you mean by ending still going plat on every album after it and releasing two LP's (The Black Album and American Gangster) since then that are stronger than Nas' whole catalouge outside of Illmatic, you're right.

    • Anonymous

To all Nas stans: Nas was never a street dude and needed his brother to give him credibility. Nas got sonned by Kelis, Prodigy, Cam'Ron and Cormega. Nas lost his girlfriend to Jay-Z. Nas signed to Jay-Z. Nas biggest career highlight is a disstrack. He turned the biggest momentg of his career, the win againt Jay, into a thousand L's. Nas was consistently outshined by his weedcarriers. Nas got murdered by his peers and is scared to work with real MC's ever since. Nas scrapped his verse on Desperados because he was shook for weeks after he heard Canibus' verse. Jay saved Nas' career with Takeover. Jay destroyed Nas' legacy and came back followed it up. Nas got ate up by Apathy, G Rap and Raekwon. Nas career justification was topped by Elzhi. Nas has been surpassed by Lupe. Jay Electronica wrote Queens Get The Money. Nas was scared to battle Jay live.

    • Nafa

Jay was never a street dude? Jigga was well known for selling large amounts of white. How do you think roc a fella records was started? From jay working at KFC. Jay got sonned by Pun? Well that's true. I believe it was nice large bottle to the head. Jay never had bitches? I have no idea. I know he hit foxy brown and I know he's got the hottest chick in the game wearing his chain. Jay is not allowed to enter South Bronx? I doubt it since he was there a couple of years ago. Jay was biggie's intern? Biggie is the best to ever do it. Jigga and him were boys. They made each other better. Big L murked him in their freestyle battle? Ain't much emcees who could go toe to toe with big l. Big L was officially going to sign to roc a fella records but died a week a later. Jay-z shaped his style from big L, jaz o and later on ma$e. Un robbed him? Jay-Z stabbed him and got away with it in court. Money equals power and he got away with it. Un and Big were close friends. LL wrote haft of Reasonable Doubt? No truth to this whatsoever. LL is me the greatest of all time. A genius. But reasonable doubt was all jay. And is also jay's best album. A classic. And Nas ended his hip hop career? No truth to it. Jay-z ended his own hip hop career when he started making pop music. His last good album is the black album. Jay-z still a legend. One of the greats and part of the 10 greatest. 1. Biggie 2. Rakim 3. Krs One 4. Nas 5. Jay-z 6. Tupac 7. LL Cool J 8. Scarface 9. Ice Cube 10. Kool G Rap. Hall of fame.

Another STRONG Entry for NAS! The album is shaping up to be a near classic.

Let me see Nas completely spazzing out on beat like Hovi Baby. Let me hear Nas coming up with complex double-entendres. Let me see Nas freestyling something like Grammy Family, well, take that back, let me see Nas WRITING something like that. Let me hear Nas completely murdering a track like Jay did on Breathe Easy. Let me hear Nas flowing like Jay on Roc Boys or Feelin' It, let me see Nas describing the hustler life so atmospheric like Jay on No Hook or Pray, let me hear Nas rapping alongside Eminem in his absolute prime, let me hear Nas going as deep as Jay on No Church In The Wild or Shiny Suit Theory, let me wait for Nas writing and releasing a book around 15 years after his debut because people still didn't catch all the hidden meanings in Jay's earliest work. Nas could never write something like DECODED because there's nothing to get about Nas horrible flow and wack ass rhyme schemes.

"...the old shit was learning student enrollment" word as bond. peace god!

  • Anonymous

Whenever Nas has a new song out, all I see is the same comments about his street credibility and how Jay was a real hustler. Firstly, none of that shit should really matter if the music is ill and also it's 2012 not 1995. But me being a 90s hip-hop head I feel it's only right to give my 2 cents. Nas was a street dude, he was from the projects just like Jay, except he was a few years younger and got a record deal when he was 17. There lives differ in terms of the street shit they did but every single rapper in the 90s knew that Nas was one of the illest lyricists around and he got co-signs from some of the most grimy emcees in the era (e.g. rae and ghost). Nas is a living legend and instead of throwing shots at him left, right and centre, we as hip-hop fans should be applauding his effort in bringing us great music.

    • Anonymous

I completely agree with you, but we should also do the same for Jay. How do Hip Hop fans look if they fight over two of the most iconic, legendary rappers ever? SMH. Instead of going in on the wack shit that really drags this genre down, they fight over two of the greatest rappers to ever touch a microphone. Nas and Jay let got of this shit YEARS ago, only ones still living in 2001 are the super stans.

  • Hudes

Must SUPPORT this masterpiece of an album 9.5 put of 10.

hell yea! Nas exposed that the heart of his pen comes from the curves life throws at him(like all the best mc's) the shit he's been thru recently made him use that pen in his strongest way....introspection. Go get em my nigga!

  • Oldschoold

This Life is Good album is the one.

  • Jay

Both Jay and Nas is great . I prefer Nas because he started something new in the game and most artist ideas and flow subject matter came from him doing it first . Jay Z tell ya what ya want to hear I feel Nas tells you both sides of the story good and bad and not glorify ignorance which is what you young dudes want to hear .

  • Jay

I don't useless comment but after reading all these idiots comments I had too. First I am from NYC from the south Bronx and the early 90's. Both Jay Z and Nas are street dudes idiots. Nas did not hustle long as Jay cause he was sign at 17. When Nas came in game you cannot be in game and be fake like today. Real street dudes respect Nas like smiff &wessun boot camp those dudes where I'll and let me tell u guys something while Jay was a hustler its not the same as a thug the hustlers got robbed by thugs and no dudes that when at jay like big pun that was a real street dude. You dudes don't know nothing and listen to TV and articles and fake raps let me tell ya Nas is a real dude and shit he say is for real no gimmic s and everyone exaggerate a lil bit but he true rapper out here. Nas when you get money u don't continue with street shit you stop just like 50 cent who ran to support from nas when scared of Ja rule cause of preme team backing murda Inc. You dudes don't no shit shut up.

Quick question: Why are Nas fans obsessed with homosexual thoughts? Nas was really talking about himself and his insecure feelings on Ether.

    • Anonymous

Nas was at his best on Illmatic, because he had a natural flow and multi-syllabic rhyme schemes. But there's NOTHING hard about flowing to a boom bap beat. Why you stay mentioning Mega when I already admitted that he does have a worse flow than Nas? Well, AZ has better than both of them. You're such an idiot. Stay listening to the fairy tales of Nas and let me see this dude ever keeping up with a beat like Hovi Baby or Brooklyn We Go Hard. You can't say shit about Nas' flow when he's embarrassing himself on his new album because he's so far behind half of the beats on there.

    • Anonymous

mega had the worst flow based on his speech impedement. but flow wasn't nas strong suit either. that has always been az's lane, who does have the best flow of all those guys by far. like all the brooklyn dudes do, see jay, mos def and big.

What s not really abut that life ? Line dude got signed at 17 the difference is dudes hustled those days because dudes were really poor now these days it's a fad. Trust me dude you could not come outside or ha g on the block especially in the projects unless you were about that life shit popped off o the regular you had to come outside with a weapon on you real shit you dudes aint listen to the song or lyrics. AZ was mother real dude who had just came home from jail who was from Brooklyn fort green projects you dudes don't have a clue cormega was just a crack dealer and that don't make you real everybody then was selling crack there was fiends lining up for that shit just like New Jack city that shit is real man. On illmatic Those dudes he mention that were locked up then lake that came hom e around 2000 that dude was real and Nas man Has put him on he got mad at has for not holding his hand but he never called Has fake is Nas was fake he would have called him out. That dude was in the paper for attempt on a cop.

    • erna

co sign my man, gud info you delivered. But what can I say, that all 90' mafioso shit, was just image, to get to the charts, drawing those times role step by step go by 90's trend. He admited that. Nas btw was more hardcore dude at the and of the day what touches musc at that time, thats why he got lot's of juice from projects. He is story teller, but saw all those horrible things, died friends one after one. He had a big dream to become something. So jungle was keeping hood in right possision bucking all stupid as pricks, while nas was creating his thing in the studio.

lol. you never dealed with real street dudes, EVERYBODY was bumping Jay when he had all the grimey hoods on lock with the shit he said on Reasonable Doubt and Where I'm From. He spoke straight to the soul of the hustlers. You NEVER really LISTENED to the shit Jay be saying. You're picking out some key words to make a point. "I'm from where the hammer's rung, New's cameras never come You and your man's hung in every verse in your rhyme where the grams is slung, niggas vanish every summer Where the blue vans would come, we throw the work in the can and run Where the plans was to get funds and skate off the set To achieve this goal quicker, sold all my weight wet Faced with immeasurable odds still I get straight bets So I felt some more something and you nothing check I from the other side with other guys don't walk to much And girls in the projects wouldn't fuck us if we talked too much So they ran up Tompkins and sought them dudes to trust I don't know what the fuck they thought, those niggas is foul just like us I'm from where the beef is inevitable, Summertime's unforgetable Boosters in abundance, buy a half-price sweater new Your world was everything, So everything you said you'd do You did it, Couldn't talk about it if you ain't lived it I from where niggas pull your car, and argue all day about Who's the best MC's, Biggie, Jay-Z, and Nas Where the drugs czars evolve, and thugs always are At each other's throats for the love of foreign cars Where cats catch cases, hoping the judge R and R's But most times find themselves locked up behind bars I'm from where they ball and breed rhyme stars I'm from Marcy son, just thought I'd remind y'all" "I'm from the place where the chruch is the flakiest And niggas is praying to god so long that they Atheist Where you can't put your vest away and say you'll wear it tomorrow Cause the day after we'll be saying, damn I was just with him yesterday I'm a block away from hell, not enough shots away from straight shells An ounce away from a triple beam still using a hand-held weight scale Your laughing, you know the place well Where the Liqour Store's and the base well And Government, fuck Government, niggas polotic themselves Where we call the cops the A-Team cause they hop out of vans and spray things And life expectancy so low we making out wills at eight-teen" "The theme song to The Sopranos Plays in the key of life on my mental piano Got a strange way of seeing life like I'm Stevie Wonder with beads under the doo-rag Intuition is there even when my vision's impaired, yeah Knowing I can go, just switching a spare On the highway of life, nigga it's sharp in my sight Oh! Keen senses ever since I was a teen on the benches Every time somebody like Ennis was mentioned I would turn green, me, being in the trenches Him, living adventureous, not worrying about expenditures I'm braving temperatures below zero, no hero No father figure, you gotta pardon a nigga But I'm starving, my niggas, and the weight loss in my figure Is starting to darken my heart, 'bout to get to my liver Watch it my niggas, I'm trying to be calm but I'm gon' get richer Through any means, with that thing that Malcolm palmed in the picture Never read the Qu'ran or Islamic scriptures Only psalms I read was on the arms of my niggas Tattooed so I carry on like I'm non-religious Clap whoever stand between Shawn and figures Niggas say it's the dawn, but I'm superstitious Shit is as dark as it's been, nothing has gone as you predicted I move with biscuits, stop the heart of niggas acting too suspicious This is food for thought -- you do the dishes" "Hoes'll get you sidetracked then clap from closed feet I don't sleep, I'm tired, I feel wired like codeine, these days a brother gotta admire from four fiends away My pain wish it was quick to see, from sellin 'caine til brains was fried to a fricaisse, can't lie At the time it never bothered me, at the bar gettin my thug on properly, my squad and me lack of respect for authority, laughin hard Happy to be escapin poverty, however brief I know this game got valleys and peaks, expectation for dips" "I suggest you call my lawyer, I know the procedure Lock my body can't trap my mind, easily explain why we adapt to crime I'd rather die enormous than live dormant that's how we on it" "My mind is infested, with sick thoughts that circle like a Lexus, if driven wrong it's sure to hurt you Dual level like duplexes, in unity, my crew and me commit atrocities like we got immunity You guessed it, manifest it in tangible goods Platinum Rolexed it, we don't lease we buy the whole care, as you should My confederation, dead a nation, EXPLODE on detonation, overload the mind of a said patient When it balls to steam, it comes to it we all fiends gotta do it, even righteous minds go through this True this, history school us to spend our money foolish Bond with jewellers and, watch for intruders I stepped it up another level, meditated like a buddhist Recruited lieutenants with ludicrous, dreams of gettin cream let's do this, it gets tedious So I keep one eye open like, C-B-S, ya see me stressed right? Can I live?" Jay was the spokesperson for ALL the hustlers out there across the whole word. Nas NEVER wrote something as real as that. You could relate to Nas' shit on IWW? What are you? A super rich mafia don? You can relate to Nas' bragging on The Don and Nasty? I'm sure you're rich as fuck then. Fuck outta here, fucking bitch ass. Getting all hyped up because you can't deny the truth I speak. I forgot more shit about Hip Hop than you will ever learn. Difference is, Jay ALWAYS spoke about himself as where Nas created made up shit to come across as real. He was NEVER talking about himself. You hopped on Nas' dick when you got your internet access and think you're enlightened since then when you wasn't there to experience Hip Hop at it's beginning, nor do you know enough to speak accurately about the genre and it's history. You can't even decipher real lyrics, you don't know shit about different cadences, you don't even know what flow or a double-entendre is. Nas got his whole style from G. Rap, Rakim and Tragedy Khadafi and dumbed it down to make it commercially accessible. Idiot is a compliment for you, so take it as that cause such a dude would easily embarass you.

lol. you lost this before you typed in this shitty response. don't annoy with that justin bieber bullshit cause nas could never fuck that from a technical level. who are you? jay's albums never get over played? let nas stans use his accomplishemnts to put him over guys like cormega or az, but let a jay fan use public opinion and it's damned. public opinion is that jay made better music since he started and it will never change. no classics? you're fucking retared and don't know shit about hip hop. jay started the "hustler with a concsious" shit with reasonable doubt, he layed down the blueprint for soul influenced rap music and retired with a classic, only to come back to go on top again. and nas ain't no real mc. he sold out as soon as he finsihed recording iww, you fucking piece of shit. get a grip on reality. the shitty comment section on here ain't the reality. nobody's bumping nas in the hood. a real mc doesn't collaborate with rick ross and wayne after he accused them of killing hip hop. a real mc doesn't scrap cormega's verse because they were equal to his. a real mc doesn't back out of his album's names. a real mc doesn't need a more successful guy who was there to remind him what he once was when he started. nas would never get crucified if he didn't declare himself as some chosen one on illmatic that came to safe hip hop and stay true to the game, no matter how much success he would get. he sold out several times, just because he didn't succeed on the level of others doesn't mean he didn't.

    • to the faggots above

ahahah bitch niggaz callin Nas listeners dickriders are fuckin illarious i believe the dickriders are the ones catching feelings just like the bitches above tryin to convince themselves Jay-Z was/is real and look at the faggot above quoting Jay-Z lyrics like a lil girl would quote her Justin Bieber's favorite song and Jay-Z got owned on the streets of new-york : - haitian jack bullied him - big pun lifted him off the floor - DMX's crew back in the days almost fucked him up after the freestyle battle they had this dude is a fukin joke and yall bitch ass are crying as soon as someone question his credibility i'd never said Nas was a gangsta. I said he was a real MC Jay-Z's albums never get over played. he might have a few good tracks here and there but as far as a classic ?? bitch please ! get jay-z's dick outta your fuckin mouth and stop groping his balls

hahahahahaha. look at this dumb ass stans believing nas' fairy tales. jay's past has been confirmed by SEVERAL THOROUGH street niggas, like he said "I got more shooters in queensbrdige than you". kill yourself, dumb bitch. nas stans stay attack far superior rappers because they need something they can overplay their inferiority complex with. btw, jay's lyrical skill >>>>>>>> nas' "I jack, I rob, I sin. Aww man, I'm Jackie Robinson 'cept when I run base, I dodge the pen" "Is Pious pious cause God loves pious?" "Get your weight up Not your hate up Jigga man is diesel When I lift the eight up" "Jeah, look I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life Look behind you, I'm bout to pass you twice Back to the future and gotta slow up for the present I'm fast, niggaz can't get past my past How they propose to deal with my perfect present? When I unwrap "The Gift & the Curse" in one session Ain't no livin person can test him Only two restin in heaven can be mentioned in the same breath as him" "Hov got flow though he's no Big and Pac, but he's close How I'm 'posed to win, they got me fightin' ghosts Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you That ain't even the half what they might do Don't believe me, ask Michael See Martin, see Malcolm You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus See success is like suicide Suicide, it's a suicide If you succeed, prepare to be crucified Media meddles, niggas sue you, you settle Every step you take, they remind you you ghetto So it's tough bein' Bobby Brown To be Bobby then, you gotta be Bobby now Now the question is, is to have had and lost Better than not having at [all]" "The more successful, the more stressful The more and more I transform to Gordon Gekko In the race to a billion got my face to the ceiling Got my knees on the floor please Lord forgive him Has he lost his religion, is the greed gon' get him? He's having heaven on earth, will his wings still fit him? I got the Forbes on my living room floor And I'm still talking to the poor, nigga I want more TIME's most influential, was impressive 'Specially since I wasn't in the artist section"

i listened to the album and i can guarantee yall it's dope as fuck his best work so far since the lost tapes 1.illmatic 2.the lost tapes 3.it was written 4.life is god life is good definitely deserves 4.5/5 when nas keeps his lyrics skills on a high level and works with salaam remi (with whom the chemistry has already been proven along his career) it can't be nothin but a win considering the fact that salaam remi and no id almost produced the entire album by themselves the black bond track is the best tune of the album peace

  • dylandavies9

nas is a ridiculous lyricist, i don't think he could release something wack if he tried. got this lp on pre-order.

    • Anonymous

he already released fully wack albums, you fucking idiot. and no, nas is not a ridiculous lyricist. there's countless of rappers who much better than him. your limited point of view is not the end of the scope. nas is a lyricist by mainstream standards.

  • Anonymous

LET THE DICKRIDING BEGIN!!! NAS COCKSUCKERS, WHERE U @ BASTARDS? LMAO

    • Anonymous

cormega sounds like he has down syndrome LMAO

    • Anonymous

^^better lyricist? mega u got a shitty ass flow

    • Anonymous

well, cormega never sold out, you fucking idiot. he was always a better lyricist than nas and that's the only reason he got kicked out. "Nasty Nas all ya life you praised me Your daughter might be Jay Z's Illmatic was real cause you was tryin' to portray me Matter of fact, time for Sony to pay me For "Life's a bitch, God forbid the bitch divorce me" "Street Dreems", and every other rhyme you got off me"

    • Anonymous

  • i know good music when i hear it!!

Nas.. another lyrical ridden track good looking! Plus is he going to sign artist to his label? I think he has one he should focus on that now.

  • Nuff said...

Best album of 2012...is it ok to say that yet?? PLEASE go buy this. He deserves it! 5 * * * * *

  • nuc

songs dope! worlds an addiction is my fav off the album i think.. the summer on smash track is easily the weakest... overall album rating 8/10

    • tbones

wat vibe? life is good son, gotto take it to d club too. And i noticed y'all just automatically hate anything swizz does since he wifed A Keys. Wat part of d game is that? Give d man his props for a good job done. And yeah i knw he got some terrible tracks too.

    • nuc

not denying that, just not the vibe of the album, and swizz is borderline wack.

    • tbones

Summer on smash is a club banger any day.

  • Life of King

This is craziest joint on the album I heaard. Shaping up to be a very good album. Maybe his best cohesive album since Stillmatic. Lyrics and beat crazy. Best song on LIG. Nas is arguably best rapper alive. Em and Jay Z only comparable. Kendrick Lamar trying tug on Nas crown.

  • sikk23

    Yeeaa!Album's gonna be fuckin sick!

  • Anonymous

This album sounds like one of the best I've heard in a while..
