  • momoneyjones

amazing track...nas and common dropping a collab later this year!

  • $onbun

one of the best songs of last year.

Right about now, l feeling Nas` new joint Daughters, that Issh is Hot, off the chain. Nas will always be the G.O.A.T dead or Alive. Nas, you are the definition of MCing and AWARDS OR NO AWARDS, your worthy is beyond measure. You are the True meaning of Hip Hop and you are Iconic in this Rap Game! One Love & God Bless!

  • SWAG

    Nasir Jones the GOAT.

  • DEE

You need to check out 'The Don'.

  • Anonymous

    now this a dope song

  • Sensezi

Great that the G.O.A.T has returned, but this song doesn't really deserve a 4.82. 4.25 sounds like a better rating for this song. This was nothing exceptional for a legend like Nas, other than the flow being too sick, but a 4.82 sounds like a bit too much. Either way...I CAN'T WAIT TILL "LIFE IS GOOD"!!!

This is so much better than anything released by YMCMB that it makes me feel a bit sick

  • HDM

Who produced this? knda sounds like a premo track or maybe pete rock

    • bisquic

I think Like Smoke deserves a place up there too, I'm loving that song. "This recession is a test, its affecting my complexion, misdirecting my affection, my concerns are bill collection.

    • Anonymous

Hate Me Now should also be up there. Angry Nas >>>

    • Anonymous

Shit, add Film to this list, one of Nas best tracks.

    • bisquic

Yea definitely, people don't give it enough listens to actually understand the concept behind it. He could have done some songs better tho.

    • Anonymous

Forgot these. His verse on In Between Us is also GREAT and HHID is underrated.

    • bisquic

Great list, but I would add Still Dreaming, Poppa Was a Playa, What Goes Around...and his verse on Verbal Intercourse :)

Unbelievable. This fool is really trying to dismiss one of the greatest Hip Hop songs of all time? SMH.

    • bisquic

Check out this idiot attempt to analyze it saying it. He's trying to say its a bad example of lyricism?... http://www.epinions.com/content_4833779844

The second verse is just untouchable, even for Nas.

  • Why is crack so common?

WOW. Where is Nas generating all this hate from? The only thing I am hearing is the word "Irrelavant". Why do you need to be relavant to be considered a good rapper. This is a good song mostly the lyrics. They are great. People hating on him because Illmatic a flawless album that loved by music lovers everywhere and trying to top it is the closest thing to impossible. I guess people are so use to Lil Wayne and Waka Flocka once you here lyrics you run in fear.

Where on earth has Nas generated all this hate from???

  • Anonymous

    nasty kid sick as hell

  • Anonymous

I swear the same guy keeps commenting over and over again with nothing but hate. Go get a life buddy. It's not your fault that you don't understand complex rhymes. It's your parents and your teachers fault.

'''Statik, I got beef with your beat, came to murder it.'' This is a true rapper with skills that would put Nas to shame, he could never rap like this.

  • Anonymous

WHACK ASS, THIS IS TRUE HIP HOP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oYNz6NT_O0

  • Anonymous

Yeah, Em's would be, you don't know a single fucking thing about Hip Hop, if you call Nas a technical rapper or a spitter. Eminem would rip this dumb dropout to shreds before he could even respond. Eminem is another universe when it comes to straight rapping ability, Nas sucks at straight rapping, I would LOVE a freestyle video of him, to see him getting EMBERASSED, Nas holding his own on a track with a motivated Royce?! GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE, you would forget his voice forever, if he'd appear on such a track, but thankfully, he's too scared to do shit with Eminem. His mic presence is one of the weakest ever, while Eminem and Royce ripped the mic for an hour with their lyrical firestorms. His nursery rhyming is down there with Gucci's, his freestyles would be even worse. The analogies he did on that Wayne track were HORRIBLE AS FUCK, GET THIS NON-SKILLED, TREND FOLLOWING SUCKER FOR LOVE OUT OF THE RAP GAME!!!

  • Anonymous

HOW CAN A RAPPER WHO DOESN'T HAVE ANY SKILL, BESIDES NURSERY RHYMES,ONE FLOW, LAME POETRY AND TERRIBLE ANALOGIES CALL HIS ALBUM SKILLmatic? LMAO, you don't know one thing about rap itself. Nas fucking sucks at rapping, he's one of the worst ever, in fact, he's the most overrated rapper ever. He does not belong into a Top 50 list for the crimes he did on the mic and paper. He comes behind 50 in the list of terrible rhyming.

Haha we got a jay z dick rider in da house..Man fuck lil tight jeggins girl pants wearing fag wayne and fuck gay z too! they both wish they had the best hip hop album of all time.. and the second classic Stillmatic...you acting like Nas fucked ya girl... haha double entendres? nigga please..look up song "i gave you power" dumb fuck... Distant relatives > watch the throne Distant relatives > carter 4 Nasty 5 stars... raw hip hop... haters stay loosing..

  • Ha!

Wow, all you lames who has these dumb ass opinions need to take that shit to a Tyler, the creator song, with ya'll dick riding asses.

  • Anonymous

W-A-I-T!!! Wanye gets nothing but hate (at least he has double entendres and metaphors and good beats) and the simple ass nursery rhyming, incoherent and boring, generic bullshit on a beat for 10 dollars called Nasty gets praised? LMAO, something is wrong here. Switch the names of the two and look how the ratings will change. Hey, Wayne was on Nas' album (where he was outshined by Damian the whole way through) and Nas is on Wayne's album. Get this whack fuck outta the rap game. Calling an album Hip Hop Is Dead, getting pop features, being outshined by your boss and sounding like Hip Hop doesn't need YOU anymore is the biggest fail in Hip Hop history. All the Nas fans should buy AZ's next album who has been waaaaayyy better since they first appeared together. His verse on Life's A Bitch SHITS on Illmatic, besides Memory Lane.

    • Anonymous

I was one of the biggest fans, bought every album, til I realized that there are much better rappers out there that don't get enough attention and I noticed that Nas is full of shit when it comes to Hip Hop.

Where did all this hate come from? Did Nas do something to you personally? Just calm down and enjoy GOOD music.

  • Anonymous

nas is the king , g.o.a.t definitely on a whole other lyrical level

  • WHn When

My fault. When is Nas' classic gonna drop.

    • Anonymous

This is your opinion, Nas' inconsistent discography is known, even amongst his core fans. These half-assed albums do nothing.

    • WHn When

You have got to be kidding me. 'garbage albums with good street singles', Nas is one of the most consistent artists of the past 2 decades.

    • Anonymous

Yeah, I've got to ask this question, too. When does another Nas classic besides Illmatic drop? We've been waiting for almost 20 years now and were only given garbage albums with good street singles. Nas, you dropout, retire please, your entire career and following of fans now is based off Illmatic and hope and nothing but hope that you're able to create one thing that's in the same universe of quality.

  • WHen When

When is gonna drop what we've all been waiting for. C'mon Son.

  • Aim80

this song > entire Watch the Throne album

    • bisquic

Gucci Mane doesn't even know what the word rebuttal means so ya thats not quite true.

    • Anonymous

Tells everyone that your IQ revolves somewhere around 20. This song has Gucci Mane written all over it. It had a rating of 2.0 if it wouldn't say ''Nas''.

  • Anonymous

cant wait for the album watch the throne is pure garbage

  • Dinne Hallondryck

I need to hear his new album, only heard Nasty.. When is it coming out?

  • Dinne Hallondryck

  • Adrian Carmelo DeCosta BSc

Wow Nas sounds hungry. The rhyme scheme is so dense. Not many rappers could even write their bars like this. Without giving into the hype this track is a 4/5. Solid & a great sign of things to come hopefully

Just saw Nas @ rock da bells in Cali Best PErformance Siiick Show!!! Nothing like puffin on a blunt and listening to Illmatic live... Nas GOAT 5/5 for this track FIRE

  • Real $hit.

Jesus Christ, what's the deal with all Anonymous cats putting up their bias worthless Two Cents? If you cats really hate or dislike Nas, and he's so "irrelevant to the world," why waste your time commenting? You dudes are really sounding like girls who just got dumped on prom night, can the man's fan base enjoy his music without you pricks spilling all your estrogen all over the comments?

  • Anonymous

    So many terrible lines, unbelievable.

    • Youropinionisgarbage

What the hell? Did he just say Nas has terrible lines? What has happened to hip hop when you can say that? Nas a terrible line? What crack is this guy on? I guess the only person that can save you ass is Lil wayne.

  • Anonymous

He has no relevance. Nobody, outside of a few internet fucks, care about this.

Naaasssty!! best ive heard in years, light years away lyricaly oh yeah Jay z GArbage

  • What?

Why is your name Anonymous then? Anyway Nas is dope!

  • Anonymous

You notice mostly all the one who are Anonymous, usually has the dumbest opinions? Fuckin' faggots.

  • Rap fans are so sensitive now days.

Why can't anybody have their own options? Can't we all just agree to disagree, Nas has hardcore fans just like any other artist, but it's sad how much hate and disrespect Nas and Jay both get, they did more for Hip Hop then others have in decades, to each it's own I guess.

  • Anonymous

Sometimes I feel that Nas is the only good rapper people listen to and think they discovered the essence of Hip Hop. There are MANY out there who are as good or even better.

    • Yes.

I get what you are saying, think of it like this, Nas is one of many gateways into Hip Hop, like Sam Cooke is to Soul Music.

  • YO!

I thought I was the only one to fuck with that joint.

Ah, the guy that fucked up his fans AGAIN. You telling me an artist of his stature can't release The Lost Tapes 2? Get the FUCK outta here. He doesn't give a shit about Hip Hop, that is the reason. ''Though many view Illmatic as the gold standard for hip-hop albums, it's abundantly clear that Nas is better off doing anything but trying to recreate it. His best work of the past decade ironically goes against the very concept of traditional album-making (The Lost Tapes, The Nigger Tape). When caught up in the increasingly antiquated promotional cycle, Nas is more likely to rely on ugly manipulation of people who tend to care way more about his work than he apparently does, and accomplish the exact opposite of what he presumptively set out for-- see how Stillmatic took advantage of those who needed to believe that it had equal footing with The Blueprint (illustrated by The Source's hilariously opportunistic 5-mic rating). See how Hip-Hop Is Dead took advantage of people willing to believe that Nas had anything trenchant to say about a game that increasingly sounded like it didn't need him anymore. Thanks to about a half-hour's worth of music made nearly 15 years ago, Nas will never lack a following, and the press battles surrounding Untitled will keep his name hot enough so we can do the same thing all over again in 2010, when he announces the release of his new album, McCain Killa.''

Yall, aside from the fact that these people never dropped the whack garbage has done.

  • Real2Real

Really, who cares about the opinions of today’s rap fans? Today’s generation are full of dick riding yes men, they’ll co-sign anything as long as it has a good beat, a bubblegum hook, and a techno like beat, don’t get shit twisted, I’m a young dude, but I really despise my generation, and the one below mine, our generation and theirs are full of idiots, who think they’re worthless two cents are valuable,, who’ll also sell their souls just to fit in. No one likes being themselves anymore, nor have any depth in their personalities, it’s all about what someone else is doing or wearing. Everything’s “swag this, swag that” hopefully as we age my generation and the one under us will mature, until then we’re fucked.

  • Anonymous

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joHCfll2AGI The thing I give Nas over Jay is subject matter, but that's it.

  • irmyes

Jay-z is a successful businessman. And because he has a great deal of money I think people tend to believe he's the best rapper. Well he's not. It's impressive that he memorize rhymes in his head and spit them during recording sessions and he is a good rapper no denying it, but lyrically he's not with Nas or Eminem whom are currently the two best lyricists in the game even on just subject matter alone. There's no debating about it. Anyone that has listened to a lot of Nas, Em, and Jay over the years couldn't honestly say that lyrically Jay is better than them.

  • Anonymous

Yo that guy is on jayz dick...talking bout does nas have complex rhymes or this and that..nigga go listen to "Rewind" Jay z cant ever make a song like that. story telling spitting backwards...or how bout i gave you power, your da man etc...Your a biased idiot.. Jay z is trash now, get fuck outta here with that commercial bullshit... All i gotta say is, E-T-H-E-R ! who disses another man when his moms is dying of cancer? a bitch ass name Gay-z.. Nas GOAT dont be mad

    • Anonymous

Fuck off now. The rappers I've mentioned are worlds above him nowadays.

    • Anonymous

I'm tired of talking about this with you. Just accept that I like Jay more, think he's better and leave it at that. Nas is overrated and Jay underrated on this site, it's nowhere on the internet similar to here, I bet many more would agree with me on another site. Look for yourself that he jacked them. Yes, they praised him, so what? Do I have to form my opinion after them? Nas hailed Nicki Minaj, Drake and Wayne for keeping Hip Hop alive, so I think you have them in your Top 5 now? Yeah, that's your opinion and it could easily be said that Damian outshined Nas on Distant Relatives. I still don't think that he lost, Ether might hit him, yes. But I expected much more from Nas, it was just so dumb and all. Seriously, this on the same album as One Mic, 2nd Childhood and You're Da Man (one of my favorite Nas tracks, btw)? And how he treated Cormega, who always was a nice and real dude on Destroy & Rebuild was just whack as fuck from a personal side, that were signs of a bad character. I felt sorry for Cormega who always praised Nas there. Jay doesn't have nice looks, but he's got the hottest bitch in the game wearing his chain, so it's laughable to call him out on that if you compare them to the bitches Nas had. What was Supa Ugly then if you consider Ether that good? When you like that disrespect shit, Supa Ugly hit harder. Young Forever is whack as fuck, what do I have to do with this garbage? Go listen to Oochie Wally. You really want to tell me that Priest ain't on his level lyrically? Like Nas all you want, but don't try to lift him on this untouchable level all the time. That was just dumb as fuck and you know it. Listen to Heavy Mental (B.I.B.L.E. and many others I don't remember now?), and The Offering (Intro, Salvation, Gun 4 Gun (Nas was nice there) Ghetto Jezuz, The PJ's, Happy (aren't these type of tracks Nas fans love?, Essential) be true to yourself, the lyrical prowess, the beautiful poetry and the vocabulary is almost second to none in Hip Hop. Priest is just a real rapper. I'm not sure how any Nas fan couldn't love this album. Come on, Priest blacked out on that album and dropped Memory Lane verses on there. It was THAT nice lyrically. I'm starting to believe that you didn't listen to these other rappers I've mentioned. Ghostface is very well known for his storytelling from OB4CL to Fishscale, he was always one of the nicest with it. And DOOM? I'm asking you are you serious with questioning that? I was very careful with the choices I made. If DOOM ain't on his level, I don't know who is, you have to take the Nas glasses off and appreciate other rappers, he still can be your favorite or are you scared that are people out there who are even? You don't want to admit it. DOOM from all his aliases to the concept tracks. That shit is bigger than Hip Hop. From DOOM to King Geedorah to Viktor Vaughn? This is just ridiculous, he created universes on these albums. Vaudeville Villain is one of the best albums ever. Don't care what you think, this takes more effort than Nas' storytelling tracks, that was genius work right there. Budden IS on his level or even nice. I've always felt that he was even more poetical than Nas. Don't judge this man off the bullshit the media covers, he's one of the realest and best WRITERS to ever touch a mic. This dude lives Hip Hop. It makes me wanna cry when Joey gets disrespect, he can fuck with the best EVER, yeah, I said it. I don't know how anyone who loves Hip Hop could disrespect him. Mood Muzik 2 (Three Sides To A Story), Mood Muzik 3 (Dear Diary, Hiatus, Invisble Man, Secrets (!!!), All Of Me (!!!). Mood Muzik 4 (Pray For Them, Aftermath, Role Reversal, Sober Up, 1000 Faces, Insperable, Stuck In The Moment, Black Cloud (!!!!!). One of the best series ever in Hip Hop with Padded Room (If I Gotta Go, Don't Make Me, In My Sleep (!!!), Exxxess (!!!), I Couldn't Help It, Do Tell, Angel In My Life, Pray For Me), Halfway House (Sidetracked, Under The Sun, The Soul, Just To Be Different) to Escape Route (Never Again, World Keeps Spinnin', Forgive Me, State Of You, Clothes On A Mannequin, Freight Train). Some of the shit he wrote there was perfectly executed and easily up there with the best tracks ever written in Hip Hop and on the same, if not better, level as Nas' absolute best work. Not say that he's a LOT better on punchlines and wordplay. The tracks he has with Fabolous and Slaughterhose prove that, Nas could never fuck with them on a track without getting crushed badly. Elzhi & Lupe have surpassed them and Lupe even Jay for me. Elzhi is on a whole nother level compared to almost everyone. Waaaay nicer on the complex and dexterity site, people talking about dropping whack tracks, even complete whack albums, this dude didn't drop ONE whack verse. Better punchlines, better double-entendres, better concepts (as of lately). One of the BEST rhyme-schemes EVER and way more consistent. The Preface Guessing Game, Brag Swag, Colors, D.E.M.O.N.S., Talking In My Sleep, Hands Up, What I Write) was one of the best albums of the last decade. I don't need to talk about Elmatic, he not only rivaled him, he beat him on some of the tracks. Detroit State Of Mind was on the same level (''I've seen it all with my own two, the hood is like a glasshouse the devil throws stones through''), Halftime was better, The World Is Yours was on the same level, Memory Lane (''I'm trying to get to memory lane But wonder should I take the train of thought Or hop on a mental plane'' Get the fuck outta here, this is beyond amazing). That whole thing got as much quotables as Illmatic. Elzhi is just better and he will NEVER release the garbage Nas has or even a mediocre album, his next one will be a definite classic. You're questioning Lupe? What the FUCK?! You're just too hard on Nas' dick. If he ain't Nas 2.0, I don't know who is. Food & Liquor (Just Might Be OK, The Instrumental, He Say She Say, Sunshine, Daydreamin' (!!!!!), The Cool (THE PERFECT INTRODUCTION TO THE NEXT ALBUM, Hurt Me Soul (!!!!!), The Emperor's Soundtrack) was the best album of the last decace to me. This was Hip Hop's lyrical zenith, it can't get better than this. Those were masterpieces from a lyrical, conceptual and musical standpoint. Lupe is just waaaay too nice with it. Nobody can fuck with him. The whole The Cool album is just ridiculous, how can you come up with that? If Dumb It Down ain't lyrical wizardry, nothing is. There are still lines that people don't got. He's like an even better version than Nas. Shit, he's like Jay and Nas put together. He has the complex metaphors, double-entendres, punchlines and delivery from Jay AND the poetical, subjects and honest side from Nas. He's the best rapper ever to me. Even Lasers (Getting Go, THAT FIRST VERSE, Words I Never Said and All Black Everything showed his incredible abilites. He's out of this world. What will F&L Pt. 2 be like? I can't even think of it without getting excited as fuck. You're afraid that someone could be better, I think. And the most underrated rapper I've ever heard, yes, not AZ. Always a straight up amazing ryhmer, but his subject matter gets tiring, is Vakill to me. Under The Gun is incredible, he has the best punchlines I've ever heard by far, and trust me, I've heard many punchline rappers, NOBODY comes close to this lyrical dexterity and his rhyme scheme is up there with Eminem's. Elzhi always has these double rhymes, but Vakill just crushes everything, this dude's rhymes are unmatched in terms of complexity, he's a force not to be fucked with on the mic. But that isn't all, aside from his incredible battle tracks, he's such an amazing and vivid storyteller with incredible detailed scriptures of the street life and he never dropped a whack track, his three albums are consistent as fuck and underground classics up there with Madvillainy. The Darkest Cloud (The Creed, Til' The World Blows Up, Dear Life, American Gothic, Fallen (tell me that ain't one of the best concepts ever, Cry You A River, Sweetest Way To Die, The Flyer.) Worst Fears Confirmed (Cold War (The N.Y. State Of Mind of Chicago, When Was The Last Time, Serpent And The Rainbow, Farewell To The Game, Man Into Monster and the most amazing track, Acts of Vengeance, this is up there with Nas' betrayal tales of It Was Written), where perfected his already amazing skills to his newest one Armor Of God (Sick Cinema, Endless Road, The Apology (again, these crazy concepts, Beast Ballad (where he proved that he easily can hang with some of rap's best lyricists., I Came 4 U, A Lynched Legacy and Bi-Polar). It's unbelievable HOW overlooked this dude is, especially in these days and times where everybody is waiting to hear those crazy lyrical dudes. He's up there with the best ever. He got it all when it comes to rap skills and can hold an album down on his own at an incredible level. "I'm Fantastic Four with the flow, I Rock Fire shit, Unseen by any Stretch of your imagination". This is just untouchable, he might even be nicer than Jay with the lines. Mean Mug Muzik? This dude is unfuckwithable. Plus, he picks one of the nicest beats out there. This dude is, by far, the underground king. ''Even Nas seems to have gotten the message this year, producing an excellent 21st-century record that balances political powder kegs, audacious Escobar floss raps, complementary beats, and genuine inspiration. Unfortunately, that record was the far superior DJ Green Lantern Presents: The Nigger Tape (whose songs are sadly underrepresented here), not Untitled.'' ''Not that it's going to matter. Whether Nas intended to actually follow through with his incendiary, original album title, he's been treating his own self-fulfilling martyrdom as the record's main goal. (See the claim on "Hero": "Try telling Bob Dylan, Bruce, and Billy Joel they can't sing what's in they soul/ So Untitled it is/ I never changed nothing.") Whatever the unfettered vision for the record, through masterful PR work, Nas has given ample reason for listeners to blame everyone but himself for his most cynical and arguably worst album yet. At least Nastradamus was up front about being a shitty crossover bid.'' ''But now, how is Nas going to come off like he intended Untitled to be an unflinching look at race relations and yet somehow leave off the track he did with stic.man? Worse still, the righteous message of "Association" (strength through interaction with those who inspire you) is forsaken for the stilted, spoken-word ramblings of "Testify", in which Nas accuses white downloaders of being unwilling to "ride" with him for whatever reason. And what about the hallucinogenic "Esco Let's Go", where he fantasized about "[writing] hood movies like Posse and Five Heartbeats" while summoning Elizabeth Taylor for career advice? Instead, we get an elderly German rhyming "knotty head" with "Nazi sled" ("America"), "Breathe" and its boring consumption rhymes ("First I cop/ Then I yacht"-- do go on!), and the gutless "Make the World Go Round" in which Nas, Chris Brown, and Cool & Dre top even Fat Joe in terms of trend-hopping insincerity, toasting to ballers, gangstas, hustlas, and the very same ringtone rappers he was willing to throw under the bus just two years ago when it was convenient for his public image.'' ''On Untitled you get to decide whether you prefer Nas thoroughly exploring half-assed concepts or half-assedly exploring thorough concepts. Note the distinction: Either he's missing obvious targets or hitting ones not worth aiming at. Peep "Sly Fox", a concerted attempt to be the "She Watch Channel Zero?!" for conservative news zombies, right down to its steady guitar chug. The main difference is that "Channel Zero" risked alienation by confronting its target head on, whereas when it comes to preaching to the choir and picking easy fights, Nas has no problem being the Morgan Spurlock of this rap shit. Speaking of rhymin' for the sake of riddlin'-- "The Fox has a Bushy tail/ And Bush tells lies and Fox trots, so I don't know what's real." Which essentially means nothing.'' ''As anyone who has followed Nas in the past decade knows, you're not here for the beats. Though he's never been hesitant to enlist the trendiest producers, they're rarely inspired to step up their game; here, it's obvious what the difference is between second-rate Timbaland tracks and something from the new line of pop-savvy super-producers. Particularly in the first half, Untitled is turned into Vice City, where each hired gun coats their tracks with ugly layers of polyester drums, fluorescent synths, and aimless violence. You can distinctly hear Polow Da Don buying into his own hype on "Hero", ignoring Nas as a lead instrument and bombing out the mix with pinwheeling keyboard arpeggios and obtrusive unison bends. On previous listens, "N.I.G.G.E.R. (The Slave and the Master)" sounded like the record's centerpiece and DJ Toomp's honest approximation of the fat cat lounginess of American Gangster. But check its tinny string section and punchless snares back-to-back with "Say Hello", and Toomp's trying to make it rain with nickels.'' ''Though many view Illmatic as the gold standard for hip-hop albums, it's abundantly clear that Nas is better off doing anything but trying to recreate it. Thanks to about a half-hour's worth of music made nearly 15 years ago, Nas will never lack a following, and the press battles surrounding Untitled will keep his name hot enough so we can do the same thing all over again in 2010, when he announces the release of his new album, McCain Killa.'' I couldn't said these things better myself, which is the reason why I quoted it. All this can be said about all his albums since Stillmatic. That expresses perfectly how I and many other people feel about Nas nowadays. This is ALL the truth. Nas has been garbage since Stillmatic and tries to please everyone with patethic attempts and worst results. Nasty is the obvious street single released to gain interest from the real fans from back then, the album will be the complete opposite of it and full with half assed and sometimes embarrassing tracks. Dude's been garbage since Stillmatic. There are about 20 tracks I really like from his other albums. You always have 5 to 7 good tracks, the rest are mediocre at best and pure whackness pressed on music. Why doesn't he put tracks like Film on his albums? I loved that one and think it's one of Nas' absolute best of the last decade, he took advantage of all his strengths there, this is the type of Nas I want to hear, but his last albums have been so disappointing that I don't expect much from the new one.

@comachonvargas CO-SIGN EVERY WORD YOU SAID.

    • comachonvargas

Bisquic - I feel you sir Jay is a bitch Anonymous Nas jacked half his concepts? Go ahead and attempt to validate that moronic claim... Priest/Lupe/DOOM/Ghostface on his level? BUDDEN on his level? Absolutely retarded... Priest called Nas top 5 DOA on his own track... GHOST called him top 5% on verbal intercourse... Lupe called him the greatest and said he modeled F&L after It was Written... Elzhi did Elmatic... EVERYONE of those dudes you mentioned would put Nas in the highest echelon jackass Jay has fallen off so badly it isn't even funny... Mike Jordan of recording Jay? Maybe MJ on the wizards... Nicki ROASTED him, Alicia Keys played him ON HIS BIGGEST SINGLE IN THE LAST COUPLE YEARS, Ye outshines him consistently, Pusha/J Elect/J Cole can upstage him anyday and THATS JUST ON HIS OWN LABEL And another thing... what is with this bullshit revisionist history about the beef... JAY LOST... DEAL WITH IT... 'for I will not lose cause even in defeat theres a valuable lesson learned so it evens it up for me'... 'jones cant keep it up well maybe my nigga Nas but I got stronger after Ether'... straight from JAY HIMSELF... explain to me how that translated to WINNING I keep hearing 'Ether was just name-calling, Nas signed with Jay so he lost in the end, Nas had Kelis so he lost, Nas won the battle but lost the war, takeover was 100% factual, Nas dedicated a whole song to Jay where Jay had one verse for Nas' etc. etc... JUST ADMIT JAY TOOK THE L You really want to compare Jay/Nas? Check ANALYZE THAT... you tell me who had the stronger verse in both their primes... go listen to young forever dummy

    • bisquic

Another thing I've noticed about Jay is how many of his "great" songs are featuring other people. Dead Presidents II is one of the few moments I actually respect Jay where he goes solo, and yaknow what? He sampled Nas-_-

    • bisquic

What I was saying is JAY steals EVERYONE ELSES shit. First he stole Biggies style. His whole "writing process" he learned from Big, then his album construction mirrored Big, THEN he made a song about how yea Big is good, but hes dead so fuck him The City Is Mine. How can you support this fucker? I hate how his most quoted line is about how he dumbed down his lyrics for money. Jesus the dude actually admits he doesn't give a fuck about Hip-Hop and you still wrap your lips around his dick. Compare Nas and Jay song for song and you tell me who has a better discography.

    • AZ

Ohh, I forgot Joe Budden (waaaaay to underrated), DOOM and Jay.

    • Anonymous

What do you expect from a guy who uses names like ''Gay-z''. Nas jacked about half of his concepts. I can tell that you don't listen to much rap if you find Rewind THAT impressive. The rhymes are whack. Listen to Kool G Rap if you want really dope storytelling. He told it backwards because the story itself sucks. And what's so hard about it? He wrote it front to back first. Jay couldn't ever do it? That's a sick statement. Jay IS better, you can't change my opinion, I was a big Nas fan waaaay before I even started to appreciate Jay. You idiots just hate Jay because he's so successful and nothing else. That is the only reason, you fools rate Nas higher. Ghostface Killah, Big L (R.I.P.), Elzhi, Skyzoo, Shad, Lupe Fiasco, Killah Priest and Vakill are all on his level if it comes to storytelling or concep ttracks.

    • bisquic

I'm not sure, but I think Jay-Z does have a song where he tells it in reverse. How much shit does he steal from other people?

  • Wow

@NASIR JONES - wow. Sorry about the whole Kelis thng. Hopefully the Hep C will clear up.

''Ayo late night, candelight fiend with Diesel in his needle Queensbridge leader no equal'' Nas has completely failed to lead QB in any way. He has put exactly zero rappers on from that hood. ''I come from the will of Ezekiel To pop thousand dollars bottles of Scotch, smoke pot and heal the people'' Yeah Ezekiel was a big proponent of supporting the overpriced liquor industry. Nas Lost. ''Any rebuttal to what I utter get box cuttered Count how many bad honeys I slut it’s a high number'' Kelis makes one. Carmen makes two. Who knows how many other women have financially and emotionally abused this loser Nas. ''Name a n1gga under the same sky that I’m under Who gets money remain fly, yeah I wonder'' Kelis does, by court order. ''Eyes flutters, love when Nas pops up'' No homo. ''Stars get starstruck, panties start dripping'' Condoms start sticking. To baby seats. In Nas' car. ''The ways of Carlito, blaze torpedo cigars drop rose, hoes, drop clothes Louis the 13th freaks, women nice size I ride like Porsches, thick brown and gorgeous It ain’t my fault, semi-automatic weapons I brought The world crazy, I’m rich and I’m girl crazy Dick 'em, convince em all to praise me'' They praise, he pays. ''Their ideology’s confusion, I lose ‘em Fellates me, who hate me? My gun off safety Since the tunnel and skate key my jewelery in HD Silent rage, pristine in my vintage shades I’m not in the winters of my life or the beginning stage I am the dragon, Maserati pumping Biggie the great legend'' Oops, Biggie namedrop. Really, Nas? ''Blasting, I’m after the actress who play Faith Evans'' Don't do it Nas, you can't afford any more alimony. '' My little Jackie Onassis did I’m so high, I’ll never land like Mike Jackson’s crib Best on 45 still crack your ribs Sacrilege talk trash about the Nasty kid Pass Nasty now gross or repulsive talk money Is you joking? Cash everywhere in my bank, in the sofa, in the walls, in the cars in my wallet, in my pocket , on the floors'' In checks made out to Kelis and the IRS. ''I’m skinny but I’m still too big for a Bentley You're your car what can represent me? Too godly to be a Bugatti you honestly must design me something Tommy Mottonic from Queens had before the 90s Drug dealer car, rush to the bar Move niggas, we don’t give a fuck who you are'' What type of features would you like on your car, Mr. Jones? How about a built-in used condom holder? ''Black card heavy like a magnum, In my stitched denims, pretty women see them sagging Bet a hundred stacks, n1ggas will run it back Just having fun, I ain’t even begun to black Light another blunt in fact For the hustlers, thick as yellow bitches just for the suck of it got a bunch of n1ggas in prison braggin, they sayin ‘it’s Nas I used to hustle with'' Gangsta talk from one of the softest niggas to ever touch a mic? ''Nigga; you ain't live it you witnessed it from your folks pad. You scribbled in your notepad and created your life.'' And that after all the preaching he did on Distant Relatives. ''Excuse the vulgarity I’m still not fully adjusted Or used to the new fans hearing me spit rapidly I never see the whips niggas be claiming they driving I guess entertainment means blatantly lying'' Nice biting of that Drake line. What's rapidly about that? It's steady at best. Dude seems to be stuck in the 90's where any average rapping technique would be praised. Move the fuck on, almost every underground rapper raps better nowadays. Fake it till you make it, I’ve driven those toys Been in awards, in the streets cops kicking in doors ''For my deen niggas Your flow cheap as limousine liqour I’m no fake rap CD listener Sit back and roll a mean swisher, For my Gs, tell these clowns make room for the King, nigga'' King of what? He's not the king of NY, but he was an employee of Jay. Dude's on Lebron status: claiming kinghood with no kingdom and no ringdom. Nas Lost. Incoherent, unoriginal shit-talking without good wordplay, punchlines or double entendres that could make this shit a bit better and the beat is typically soft. Nas without storytelling is pure garbage.

All the cat's you name: Lupe, Jay-Z, AZ, and Elzhi all look up to this dude, so what's your argument? Apparently they see something your idiotic ass don't.

    • Anonymous

Your dick is soooo much into Nas' ass that you're blinded by it. Jay has never released the G-A-R-B-A-G-E Nas has. His worst tracks belong into the Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame category. And yes, Jay's verse on I Do It For Hip Hop was complete trash. But that doesn't matter, as Black Republican and Success were way better and Jay destroyed Nas there. He admitted that Jay was right on Takeover, because he, magically, changed his whole style after that. I guess, he was hurt to his bones. His career was dying, he should be glad that Jay recovered him and lit some fire under his ass, otherwise he would've been there with Ja Rule now. Yeah, Jay was shocked, do you think Nas wouldn't be if they asked him live just after he heard Takeover? We all don't know if Nas was crying in his bed. Nas refused to take this route any further, because he failed to sell out. I don't need to remind you that Nas singed to Jay. Making yourself an employee of your worst enemy? How far can you lower your self esteem? That's way worse than any diss track could ever get, you sign to the man that fucked your baby mama, made it public and tried to end your career? That's self destruction beyond belief. Ye the superior MC? That's downright laughable and you know it. To remind you, this is called MUSIC and not spoken word sessions. Beats are the essential thing of this, otherwise your hero would've been writing poems. Jay was incredible lyrically and flow-wise on The Blueprint and especially on The Black Album. Anyone who denies that, hates Hip Hop. Social awareness, ridicolous wordplay, complex metaphors and countless flow variations. Vol. 1 is dope, don't get the hate, his flow was amazing and the lyrical insight was still there. Vol. 2 & 3 = garbage, Blueprint 2 = average, some of his good tracks on there, Kingdom Come = gets not enough appereciation because of 3 or 4 pop tracks, but the best songs still showed his amazing abilities, the lyrics were still there, it was dismissed because the expectations were ridiculous after 3 year retirement and The Black Album. American Gangster was a classic to me, the only whack song was the one with Lil' Wayne, other than that, it sounded like an updated version of Reasonable Doubt. Don't know what's wrong with BP3. It was pretty dope, sure, not for close minded Hip Hop purists, the exact opposite of American Gangster, not a classic, but still good music all around. And all of that you said, doesn't change a damn thing about this. Jay is a worldwide icon, rich as fuck, one of the most selling artists in any genre and influenced more people than you can image, while having more skills then 90% of the underground rappers. You act like Nas is the only who writes nice, poetical verses. There are many rappers who are equal or better than him. He just isn't that good rapper, everytime he tells a story, his rhyme scheme wents straight downhill. He has to simplify it in order to tell a story, that, my friend, isn't skill. I don't get it, Nas got nothing but shitted on from 96-01, everyone who would've called him the GOAT back then, would get laughed at and not taken seriosuly anymore. as is good at what he does, but can't change his lane and succed there as well, while Jay could switch from style to style and still being one of the best everywhere. He has as much depth as Nas in his song, WHILE having deep metaphors and some of the best bragging ever written. When Nas does something else, he looks a real life parody. Jay can get as poetic anytime he wants to, that has been proven on countless songs on any album. That is another evidence of how much more skills he has. Just because Nas talks about not having money while looking out of a project window and hearing gunshots doesn't make it any better. Nas is definitely overrated. As far as lyrics and technical style goes, he's not in my top 20. But albums like Illmatic get the benefit of flawless production (swallow your own shit) I have nothing against Nas, but as an MC people tend to have this inflated view of him, most likely based solely on Illmatic. Illmatic reings supreme, but anything else Jay did is better than all his other albums. Jay fucked up his critics cleverly on many songs and made them spechless, something that, despite several pathetic attempts, never achieved. Youse the fag model for Karl Kani/Esco ads Went from, Nasty Nas to Esco's trash Had a spark when you started but now you're just garbage Fell from top ten to not mentioned at all to your bodyguard's "Oochie Wally" verse better than yours Matter fact you had the worst flow on the whole fuckin song but I know - the sun don't shine, then son don't shine That's why your - LAAAAAAAME! - career come to a end There's only so long fake thugs can pretend Nigga; you ain't live it you witnessed it from your folks pad You scribbled in your notepad and created your life I showed you your first tec on tour with Large Professor (Me, that's who!) Then I heard your album bout your tec on the dresser So yeah I sampled your voice, you was usin it wrong You made it a hot line, I made it a hot song And you ain't get a coin nigga you was gettin fucked and I know who I paid God, Serchlite Publishing Use your - BRAAAAAAAIN! You said you been in this ten I've been in it five - smarten up Nas Four albums in ten years nigga? I can divide That's one every let's say two, two of them shits was due One was - NAHHH, the other was "Illmatic" That's a one hot album every ten year average And that's so - LAAAAAAAME! Nigga switch up your flow Your shit is garbage, but you try and kick knowledge? (Get the fuck outta here) You niggaz gon' learn to respect the king Don't be the next contestant on that Summer Jam screen Because you know who (who) did you know what (what) with you know who (yeah) but just keep that between me and you for now Can't y'all, see that he's fake, the rap version of TD jakes Prophesizing on your CDs and tapes Won't break you a crumb of the little bit that he makes And this is with whom you want to place your faith? I put dollars on mine, ask Columbine When the Twin Towers dropped, I was the first in line Donating proceeds off every ticket sold When I was out on the road, that's how you judge Hov, no? Ain't I supposed to be absorbed myself? Every time there's a tragedy, I'm the first one to help They call me this misogynist, but they don't call me the dude To take his dollars to give gifts at the projects These dudes is all politics, depositing checks they put in they pocket, all you get in return is a lot of lip And y'all buy the shit, caught up in the hype Cause the nigga wear a kufi, it don't mean that he bright Cause you don't understand him, it don't mean that he nice It just means you don't understand all the bullshit that he write Is it "Oochie Wally Wally" or is it "One Mic"? Is it "Black Girl Lost" or shorty owe you for ice? I've been real all my life, they confuse it with deceit Since I will not lose, they try to help him cheat. Now these niggas is mad, oh they call me a Camel But I mastered the drought, what the fuck I'm an animal.

Anonymous 1) WAY too much time on your hands 2) Expressing multiple sides of yourself is essential to being A REAL ARTIST... NO ONE has expressed more to his listeners than Nas has 3) Illmatic and IWW top any two albums FROM ANY ARTIST EVER 4) JAY idolizes esco more than any other MC honestly... his ego won't ever let him admit it since he DAMN NEAR CRIED AFTER ANGIE ASKED HIM ABOUT ETHER ON HOT97... LOL 5) I seem to remember another emcee who often contradicted himself but escaped this criticism that Nas does not... 2PAC... he was pretty good 6) JAY contradicts himself plenty... remember 'dumbing it down' on moment of clarity? But Jay later claims he did it for hip hop on that Nas/Luda joint... not to mention Jay's verse on that was GARBAGE while Nas killed it and called himself the GOAT 7) Jay has been chugging Kanye's cock since dynasty... he used Kanye for his production and failed to credit him as an emcee until he was forced to after College Dropout... now Ye is clearly the superior MC... Blueprint/Black Album are standouts because of the PRODUCTION 8) Jay has plenty of weed plates to his name? Remember Vol1 and I know what girls like? Vol3? Blueprint2? Kingdom Come? BP3? Thats damn near half his catalogue dummy

    • hiphoppa

Bitch you whine too much. The average rapper, and by some extent, person is a mess of contradictions. Deal with it. Nas has matured and changed and been in conflict with himself. I see it as more human and understandable compared to Jay's constant gangsta talk and ego primping. At least Nas has shown SOME empathetic emotion through his music.

    • Anonymous

Going by your logic: Respect Lil' Wayne, Drake and all those other whack dudes Nas praised as geniuses. I don't disrespect Nas though, it's amazing how's fooling all you blind people. Ah, If Nas switches from trend to trend and topic to topic I guess it's called crossing the artistic boundaries? LMAO. This dude will get a pass for everything. Gimmick after gimmick for every single album. Illmatic (one of the greatest albums of all time, straight hip hop), It Was Written (first attempts of selling-out, poppy beats, whack hooks whole mafioso persona that was extremly popular back then with adding the hypocritical Black Girl Lost in between), I Am... (jiggy era starts, bragging about money and jewels, reachting to all the popular rappers at that time, pop-like sounding beats and hooks, dumbed down lyrics, obvious Pac & Big track, nursery rhymes and more contradictions than your average politician, doing the Premo tracks to attract fading base of real fans, but the majority was pure GARBAGE from a lyrical and a musical standpoint, almost no substance) Nastradamus (don't need to say anything about this, could be a slang for TERRIBLE), Stillmatic (few dope tracks, but unbelievable how overrated this is, evidence for his whack discography that people get all wet over a finally half decent album, 5 or 6 absolute garbage tracks, trying to change the perspective after your career been dead, subtil admitting that everything Jay said was rihgt, acting like a real rapper after you failed to sell out, almost no substance), God's Son (again, contradicition to the whole albums before, 1 or 2 dope concepts, rest is played out and not executed well, terrible beats and average rhyming, maybe the worst track ever released in history in the form of Zone Out, the laughable I Can which was completely horrible and should show everyone how he's trying to convince people that he's all for the community), Street's Disciple (almost as whack as Nastradamus, garbage beats, 7 or 8 hot tracks on a double album, some of the corniest concepts ever approached in the history of this genre, just an all around terrible piece of music), Hip Hop Is Dead (gimmicks in full effect, obligatory tribute track, featuring Chrisette Michele, Snoop Dogg, Kelis, Will.I.Am and The Game on an album called Hip Hop Is Dead), corny and lame concepts, uninspired and dull beats, getting outshined by his worst enemy, pratically doing exactly anything that's wrong with Hip Hop), Untitled (some of the worst beats ever picked, I thought this was intented to be music? Half assed facts from a drop out, whack rhyming, naming it Nigger to gain controversy and then changing the name to Untitled), Distant Relatives (I'm so real and all for my people, getting outshined by a raggae singer on the whole album, preaching, sounding lazy and uninspired the whole through, saying all kinds of things people already did in a far better way) The Lost Tapes (his second best one, aside from a few whack beats, there's nothing wrong with it). And still, after he nearly tried everything, people always want him to do what he did best, straight rapping without his wanna be thought provoking shit that the majority of his fans don't wanna hear, there are many rappers who are doing this A LOT better without all the gimmicks. He's just fucking overrated, he dropped Illmatic, which is his only real great album, but you gotta remember he did it with almost all of the hottest producers around at that time. Now he's going back to that shit after he realized that there's no market for the shit he did on his prior albums, now he's the real rapper who never sold out and always was for Hip Hop after the gangsta and jiggy shit is played out. I was a big fan, til I realized that he's full of shit and starts to act like people want him to to sell, one time he's the black messiah, then the one who gets all the bitches, then the street banger and after that the reflective poet. The difference between him and Jay is, Jay always admitted that he wanted to make it big and never tried to hide it under those lame ass gimmikcs, while being one of the wittiest rappers ever who drops quality music almost every time.

People definitely need to listen to 'You're Da Man' off Stillmatic. Classic material and it will answer all of the bickering below.

  • Big Jun

From Goon to Griot, from Poet to Professor, From Professor to decadent party playa to the most prolific storytelling emcee ever. NaS's greatest strenght that makes him the best emcee of all time has also been what the critics consider his greatest weakness. His ability to switch to an infinite amount of topics not only within a verse but within 6-8 bars has captivated, aggravated, and flat out lost some ppl in the process. They would rather he be like Jay Z who fears stepping outside the materialistic box but what NaS does is give you ALL of who he is: the street kid from QB, the conscious kid with the Arabic name, the pretty boy who chases ladies and paper with equal vigor and the Garveyite who struggles with his spirituality/materialism and sprinkles the abstract jargon and mysticism of every major religion and text that he's ever read into his verses. You get all of that with NAS no holds barred. So what some may label as hypocritical I call it being a true artist with the uncanny ability to express his full personna with unmatched honesty and lyricism.

  • Anonymous

while eminem releases songs like space bound, love the way you lie and lighters and white teenage boys who have no clue what they talkin bout when it comes to hip hop call him the best ever... nas proves once again why that is completely untrue with real hip hop like this

    • Big Jun

What is this cat talkin about 'nas changed his ideology"?? I luv these cats who talk about Nas is a hypocrite meanwhile its an artist's job express ALL of who they are not just a piece. Every single last person on the planet is a walking contradiction and we want our artists to be different then we are? Noone spends they're whole time in a church, or in a club, or at peace, or with their kids, so if I have a song where Im talking about my mom (DEAR MAMA) and then the next song i'm angry at the world like (HIT 'EM UP) does that make me a hypocrite too? Or is it that I'm expressing exactly how I'm feeling at the time like a TRUE ARTIST is supposed to do. Get ya mind right just cuz Jay sticks to the same topic of Money clothes and hoes doesnt make him better than nas it doesnt even allow him to have the title of ARTIST it makes him an ENTERTAINER just doing exactly what the fans want instead of doin what he feels..

    • Anonymous

What's real about this song? That Nas changed his ideologies for the 100th time? Eminem isn't the best either, it's Jay.

''Cheap as limousine liquor'' sounds like a line from Gucci Mane. But what do you expect from a guy who writes things like ''timbs yellow like the hair on a malibu surfer''? No content, lines as coherent as a Lil Wayne song, whack metaphors, where's the lyrical dexterity and the hot flow? Flowing is something a guy like Royce does. Nothing would justify a rating of 4.85 for this overrated garbage. And someone who's so fucking average in all departments is the one you guys call the GOAT? Lupe, Jay-Z, AZ, One Be Lo and Elzhi >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nas.

    • Big Jun

I love how the biased come out and can't objectively critique NaS songs, if you dont like NaS that's cool but you cant put dudes like Lupe who's last album was str8 trash over NaS you cant put Jay who's storytelling and range is limited to materialism over a dude like Nas who can go from songs like "Blaze a 50" to songs like "Africa Must Wake Up" to Songs like "2nd Childhood" without effort.

    • bisquic

      You stupid fucker.

    • bisquic

"My crew bout to blow up, like inflaters"....I hope you know who's wack metaphor this is...you just listed him as the GOAT above Nas.

Who cares how many comments Kanye and Jay-z's "Otis" get, just enjoy the great King Nasir spit his poetry.

  • Anonymous

Life is Good, Nas is Great period.

  • Nat King Cold

Nas never get the props he deserves, instead he gets criticized by all these bias ass dick riders who wouldn't know music if it spat in their faces.

  • John Smith

Nastier than having unprotected sex with a prostitute.

  • @

    KING NAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dylann17

Nas is definitely the G.R.O.A.T. (Greatest Rapper of All Time).

  • Anonymous

So Nasty it needs more comments than freaking Otis.

    • Dylann17

I love Nasty, but Otis is a hot track.

    • Anonymous

Good I'm not the only one that thinks Otis was wack: Kayne was fine but Jay was bad and Otis' voice in the backround when they were rapping was kind of annoying. Plus its not a very soulful track with lyrics like "I invented swag and poppin bottles"....

  • Miguel Thomas

Nastier than hugging your mom with a boner.

  • Isa Dalwai

Yes Nas, we still listening to this!

  • lis

still bumping this.waiting for the album. hope its all nasty!

  • Kota

    this ish too ILL! @thakota

  • Ghoster

"Bet a hundred stacks niggas'll run it back" Damn right Nas

  • Nasir

Just a lyrical exercise by Nas. Nothing short of perfection.

  • Dylann17

Nas is one of the greatest rappers to ever grace the mic. 5 Stars.

  • Anonymous

Nothing special. Nas dropped a decent track in a year and all are going crazy. This seems just good because Nas is mediocre almost the whole time, while other rappers are holding this standard with the majoirty of their tracks. I can't find good line in this whole song. Well, let the Lil B and Wayne comments start. Nas just isn't that technical rapper, no matter how hard he tries. Elzhi & Lupe surpassed him by far. Can anyone show me a verse with complex rhyme schemes or double-entendres by Nas?

    • Anonymous

Obviously this is somebody who didnt hear Dispear off the Distant Relatives album Obviously this is somebody who hasnt heard NaS on the Untitled song on the Untitled album this is someone who hasnt heard NaS flow onthe countless stories that Lupe & Elzhi have yet to show us, first off Lupe doenst have the voice and presence on the mic that Nas has, Lupe is NOT better than Royce or Joe Buddens so lets PLEASE get off the Lupe bandwagon as of right now, Nas has proven time and time again that he can go from goon to griot from professor to militant to decadent rapper in a matter of seconds without skipping a beat, that's the genius in his music, you can be a Lupe and Elzhi fan all you want cuz I am too but even they know they cant do what NaS does

    • M

"Nas just isn't that technical rapper" ? Are you serious? Nas is basically *the* technical rapper. Complex rhymes? When he basically invented the practice of constant use of internal rhyme? It is also funny how people invent skewed standards to judge rappers, usually ones that favour their preferred rappers.

    • Anonymous

Jay-z, is that you?... cause that was dumb.

  • Shawn Carter

    I give up. Fuck this.

  • Anonymous

haha, damn, that hopsin track on the tyler the creator diss was hot. oh wait, nas created ether haha. and he created this song....fire

  • nash

nas,you are a stone in jay-z shoes and a thorn on his side

  • esco for president

Just think about it for a minute. Nas was the illest rapper to bless a mic when he came in the game(Live at the BBQ/Illmatic), and now he is one of the oldest rappers that is still actually rapping and is still considered the greatest of all time. Almost 20 years strong, no one has been realer or iller than the GOAT N-A-S.

    • Real talk NY

It has been 20 years my dude Nas hit us with that Live at the BBQ verse in 1991 and he had our ears ringin since then, anyone who can question Nas's place as the GREATEST only need to check his catalog of 10 albums and the range of topics and content and concepts that he's covered not only in his songs but Nas's true genius is that within 8 bars he lyrically covers what it takes most dudes two songs to oover if they can even cover it at all.

  • Anonymous

cant wait to see this nigga @ rock the bells! Nas Is Best

  • Vincent Byronic Hero Salamatino

Distant Relative gave me hope Nas was going to start making better MUSIC but I guess it's back to the same old rap about nothing for 4 minutes Nas wrapped around complex rhyme schemes and one of a kind brand naming lyrics wit a throwbacc beat and you get Nasty..."Saying it's Nas they use to hustle wit.." Who is saying that?

    • Anonymous

Jay-Z has alot of eh albums and wack albums. NaS has an eh album (Hip Hop Is Dead), and a wack album (Nastradamus) and everything else is good. He's got his demo which is a classic, Ilmatic which is a classic, Stilmatic which is arguably a classic (It's only arguably cause the beats were eh,) It Was Written which was a classic... Jay has only one classic imo (Reasonable Doubt,) Blueprint was overrated because of its production (which IMO isn't classic like everyone makes it out to be, but its close to it.) The rapping wasn't that amazing. Black Album was overrated aswell. But back to your points about this song. I undertsand what you are getting at but after so many songs he doesn't have all that much to rap about.. so not every song is going to have a meaning.

    • Sky

While I sincerely disagree with the Jay-argument (I'd never argue Nas being the better businessman, but as an MC? Not a doubt Nas snatches the title), I'm quite sure you don't need to worry about the progress. He dropped Distant Relatives which was freaking brilliant and just because he goes back to show kids that he slaughter Slaughterhouses, doesn't mean he won't move forward. He stated he'll do more with Marley. (And come on, you seriously mention Vol. 2 as progressive?!)

    • Anonymous

That's the same dumb argument. To sign a deal for 11 million is a business move. Fuck if its Jay or whoever. Get that money sun. NAS music has more depth than anybody ever will...Dick

    • Vincent Byronic Hero Salamatino

Reasonal Doubt, Vol. 2, The Dynasty, Blueprint, The Black Album, American Gangster all the way down to Blueprint 3. Jay has consistently evolved while setting new trends and higher standards in the process. When Nas was on top of the rap world in the mid 90's Jay came out of nowhere talking about you're gonna witness a dynasty like no other. Fast forward ten years and Nas is signing wit Jay. I just don't even think it's close.

    • B CIVIL

I respect your opinion, however it is hard to take it seriously as your previous comment stated that you believe Jay-z is better than Nas.

    the GOD of Rap.

  • Drakes Lover

Drake is better than Nas, he's so cool & he goes so hard, especially when he's with Weezy, he goes real hard.

  • Anonymous

Nas is, without a doubt, the greatest of all time. First the Black & Rich verse, then this classic song and now the Ghetto Dreams verse, where managed to outshine Common by far. That absolutely amazing considering that he has been in the game for 20 years and is raps like every track is his first appearance. This album will be a classic.

  • Anonymous

Nas' lines are the definiton of whackness. His disability for writing punchlines was displayed to the fullest on Ether. Other rappers who write much better punchlines get dissed for it, but hey it's Nas, so I guess this rule doesn't apply here.

    • Anelka

    • Anonymous

When he isn't about punchlines why does he use them on songs like this? They ARE whack, you can't deny it, no matter how hard you try. It's about telling stories while using great metaphors and wordplay.

    • Anonymous

no boyyy u don t know watt u tlkn boutt shut up please

    • fucdapolice

Preach! @jj steez These so called hip-hop heads rate rappers by their punch-lines and they should be tied and beaten for it. Anyone can come up with a witty punch line or a one that draws reference to stupid shit but not everyone has the aptitude to draw reference from history, art, biblical tales or real shit from the hood and deliver it with such a skill. You want puch-lines, go to 106& Park faggots.

    • jj steez

you're a retard. yeah, dudes like wayne get dissed for punchlines, but not cause theyre all wack, but because thats all they can do. if you sit down with a pen, any average person can come up with some witty punchlines just from creatin some analogies, makin some funny one liners...whateva. nas is a poet who consistently spit his thoughts in a unique way. punch lines don't revolve around clever rhyme schemes, theyre just made to stand out to faggots like you that can't understand the subtle beauty in nas lines.

Nas is not a street cat like Ja rule jay z and CAM'RON hes a nerd from the hood who rapps about being a slave and wierd shit He never was a gangsta I dunno why people see him as a G.O.A.T next to biggie and tupac. I liked his first album but the rest of the shit is garbage.

  • DeMarus Rogers

nas and common just fucked the whole rap game with 5 verses..

  • Jason Smith

I love the production on this track. Not every beat has to be over synthesized with triple time drum patterns. This shit is uncut dope. Anything less than a five is uncivilized.

  • *Fell*

This track tells us everything we already know. He has the skill to be the best and constantly picks weak production. This sounds like something that was recorded with the streets disciple material. We know he has all the ability in the world but if he doesnt use it to make a comprehensive CD he isn't going to forfill his maximum potential. I hope the tracks with premo materialize.

  • Tommy

Nas is the sexiest man I ever seen. I'm gay and I'm proud. I don't like the mainstream rap of today because they all suck. I want real rap like Nas, 2pac, Biggie, Big L, and Eazy-E all sexy niggaz.

@Drake Fanboy... Actually, both of those rappers suck ass. Nas raps for teenage boys who hate mainstream and live in their moms basement while Drake raps for teenage girls that think Big Sean, B.o.B and Wiz Khalifa are the best rappers of all time. LOL besides Nas fans, using a few words just to give this lame 1100 posts proves you guys sit on ur ass online all day without getting pussy. Just like those who dislike Justin Bieber's epic song Baby or Rebecca Black's Friday. Grow up and listen to real rap like Canibus, Jedi Mind Tricks, Hopsin, Tyler The Creator, Gucci Mane, Soulja Boy, Lil B, Justin Bieber, Cody Simpson, Christian Beadles and Patrice Wilson from Ark Music Factory. hmmmmmmmmm, you contradicted yourself a lot here. i know you are a troll, but i'll make it obvious and ima troll back. so let's look at the definition of a troll....someone who just SITS around on a website winding people up. okay then, that means you spend more time on the computer than the normal "i'm gonna listen to nas, comment, leave." the more time you spend trolling, the less time you are getting pussy. so please, practice what you preach. plus commenting takes a couple minutes, there is still plenty of time to get pussy. OHHHHH Unless you gotta try to get pussy. OH SupperGucciRap, don't tell me you don't have bitches lined up, you actually have to gamble to see if your getting pussy tonight....damn man, i remember the days when i was a 14 yr old boy wearing axe. it's hard but you'll get through it.

Undeniably unbelievable, but Nas has some many classic tracks in his catalogue that this went could go unnoticed over time. Listen: you don't measure an artist by his swag, popularity, sales, or trend-setting. The REAL criteria are longevity, influence to other artists, delivery, flow, lyricism, creativity, diversity of subject matter and substance. Now in the REAL category... NO ONE IS TOUCHING ESCO. Pun, Big L, BIG, Pac, Rakim, Kool G, KRS, LL, Face, Outkast, Em, even Jay are great... but N A S = G O A T
