With the national exposure and overwhelming mainstream
success of the first Private Party
compilation, Baby Blue Sound Crew
release volume 2 of there Private Party
Mixed CD Collection.
Baby Blue is arguably of one
Canada’s premier urban sound establishments, based on the their previous
records sales and eccentric live performances. Recognizing their selling power
and radio air play. Baby Blue continue
with their previous collective blueprint of a diverse mixture of R & B, Hip
Hop and Reggae.
Catering to all urban listeners that divulge into the club scene, with their
various infectious party anthems and engaging beats that will make heads bounce.
Some of the intriguing cuts on the album are Keep It Tight featuring E-3
and Love ‘ Em All which features
Canadian talents Choclair and Mr. Mims. The irony of the release is
that the main stand out to the album is similar to their previous release.
Which features a superb reggae medley that feature reggae superstars like Cutty Ranks, Baby Cham and Sizzla.
Unfortunately this compilation displays noticeable flaws and questionable
direction. With an obvious scrappy conclusion to their release, by dropping The Way I Am by Eminem to the
compilation, occurs without any flow or mixture. Another detrimental factor
would be their spoken word Intros and Outros, which does not provide this
release with consistent tempo. In addition, the decision to embark on the radio
edits to some of the commercial tracks take away from mixed CD formula.
Private Party is moderate album that
definitely could of reach positive climax with much needed studio time and more
commitment to the fundamentals of the mixed CD. However, with all their complimentary
live showcases and top notch production, will undeniably increase their fanfare
and elevate the status of these talented performers to become worldwide
ambassadors of Canada’s urban scene.
