This is easily Fat Joe's best-produced album in over a decade - but that isn't the key to this album's success. Hardcore lyricism backed by the conviction that has been lacking since the '90s give this project heart.

The aughts were, for the most part, unkind years to one Joe Cartagena a/k/a Fat Joe. They began with the death of friend and partner-in-rhyme Big Pun, and continued with middling album releases mired by increasingly poor lyricism and production. As the decade wore on, Joey Crack’s star began to lose its luster, both as a commercially and critically viable artist.

So, after being kicked around the previous decade – even if self-induced – it’s fitting that Don Cartagena turns to the “dark side” at the start of this one. The Darkside Vol. 1 has Fat Joe with a fire in his sizable belly, reestablishing his place as a dominant force in Rap.

The album’s intro fits the “dark side” aesthetic to a tee with its epic choir notes, stabbing synths and heavy percussion. Proclaiming “We’ll throw the biggest party when Curtis die,” it becomes immediately apparent that Fat Joe isn’t here to take prisoners. The sentiment carries over into “Valley of Death,” which carries with it a heavy, triumphant bounce courtesy of Cool & Dre. Just Blaze picks up where 2005’s “Safe 2 Say” left off, continuing his impressive streak alongside Fat Joe on “I Am Crack” . The track has Fat Joe speaking as the Reaganomics narcotic in the first person, over cymbals, rolling drums, bass licks and off-kilter keys. Although Juelz Santana has done it before, Joe does it best. In character, Joe thumps his chest for tearing apart families and says, "It's Crack, baby, minus the incubators." There is a darkside.

“Kilo” , featuring Clipse and Cam’ron, looks like a winner on the surface, but upon closer inspection is a bit of a disappointment. First, the track flips the same sample as Ghostface Killah’s 2006 song of the same name - to lesser effect. Despite this, the track is a banger for sure; but while Joe and Cam’ron come through with their verses, one can’t help but feel shortchanged by Clipse’s performance. It’s becoming tiresome to hear the Brothers Thornton pray for forgiveness on every other song (the “tortured hustler” shtick belongs in 1996), as well as their insistence on recycling the flows and intonations they’ve leaned on for the last few years.

Fat Joe displays an impressive ear for beats with “(Ha Ha) Slow Down” and “If It Ain’t About Money” . The former is almost like Fat Joe’s version of “New Wu,” crafted by Scoop DeVille and featuring fellow fish-scale connoisseur Young Jeezy, whereas the latter is Cool & Dre’s take on a grimier “A Millie.” The aforementioned comparisons are favorable ones, as Joe’s versions have the elements that made their counterparts great, while simultaneously allowing Crack to make them his own.

Darkside soars to even greater heights with an outstanding Too Short feature on “Money Over Bitches,” but stumbles with “Heavenly Father” , which inexplicably samples Lil Wayne’s “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep” prayer from his 2007 song, “Pray to the Lord.” One has to wonder, though, if the line “everyone done being something they can’t be” isn’t aimed at Joe himself.

All is forgiven and forgotten, however, when the beauty that is “I’m Gone” graces the listener’s ears. The ever-reliable DJ Premier laces Fat Joe with what may just be among the Bronx rapper’s greatest solo joints. Preme offers a slow-and-simple piano and violin loop, dripping with the pain of just having lost Guru – and Joey doesn’t waste the effort brought forth by the unique circumstances one bit: “Premo on the beat, yeah I know it sounds different / But his mans just passed, his soul’s just risen / Cold, cold, world is the word that was given / As he see me fifteen with the burner out of prison / Gangster – fuck that, I’m Gang Starr/ Tell Nas Hip Hop’s dead now, my man's gone / As I rise to the top, knee-deep in the game I survive every shot / Back to life like Thriller, back to reality / Flipped the light scoop, got everyone mad at me /…I’m hungry, nigga, I’ll eat your flesh / I’ma butcher, chainsaw through your spleen and chest /…Joe Crack, yeah man on fire / Conversate with the devil, rockin’ diamond messiahs.” Simply put, this may be the performance of Fat Joe’s career, which he fittingly closes out “My 1st Song” style – with a bevy of shout outs and memories.

Aside from the miserable decision to not make “I’m Gone” the album’s final cut, there’s little else to complain about on Darkside Vol 1. This is easily Fat Joe’s best-produced album in over a decade – but that isn’t the key to this album’s success. For whatever reason, Joe believed for years that he needed to “switch it up to south paw” to survive, but here he’s returned to his D.I.T.C.-minded roots in a big way. Hardcore lyricism backed by the conviction that has been lacking since the '90s give this project heart. Who knows where Fat Joe’s musical whims will take him, but for now, it feels like it’ll be a cold day in hell the day he’ll take an L.

compare 50cents and fat joe's albums and you"ll see all the garbage that 50 is putting out there. 50 is running out of material while fat joe is going to release another 2 volumes of the darkside and a few mixtapes. People that hate fat joe are probably sucking down 50. 50 cent is a funny guy and should quit making music and start doing stand up. Every song that 50 makes sounds the same. Fat Joe is always coming out with new music and it always sounds new and refreshing. I agree that the song he does with R Kelly is one of the greatest songs ever made.

  • carlos dias

Fat Joe is ONE of the best EVER!!! No one can do what he did after going through the pain of his last record sales. He just keeps coming back making hit after hit. Stop hating. Look at 50 Cent now, his last cd only had a few decent songs and wasn't as good as JOSE 2. The song he does with R. Kelly is one of the greatest songs ever.

  • E-Knuckles

Joey's best album since Jealous Ones Envy... Not as Dark as I thought it would be but Joey went in on every song.. He def stepped his game up on this one... Good Look Crack... Peace

  • E-Knuckles

    BTW, that line "I'm Gang Starr/"... Hell-To-The-Mother-Fucking-No!

  • Controverse

Remember when MAINSTREAM artists released good, talented, critically acclaimed music without having to go through like the worst decade in the world or whatever? This is what it takes? I'll tell you though, Rap hasn't run out of good artists, there's plenty on the indie scene. The problem, as everyone and their mother knows, is that the machine stop promoting it and we started downloading it. The subject content on this album isn't even that stellar. Joey sells crack, Joey get's violent with people, Joey refers to himself as Joey. Now i realize that there's different types of rappers. Some are entertainers and some are artists. However, have things really become so skewed that just because an artist doesn't completely disappoint lyrically, we automatically call him lyrical? The same thing has been going on with Jadakiss and Lil Wayne for years. Joey tries to market himself as a lyricist on this album and we give him the crown without thinking about it. That being said he did have some great lines on this album, but it's ten years too late! I'd respect this album more if Joe didn't try to appeal to every shallow rapper stereotype in the world on almost all his previous albums. Why didn't he just pick great beats and rap really well from the beginning?

  • Steve Rio

After J.O.S.E.2 I thought it might be over for crack, but this album is solid front-back.. pumps hard and is definitively one of the most consistently produced and rapped albums this year.

  • Jbpc

picked up my copy of the album 2day, thought it was awesome, Joey Crack defo back on form

  • rating

NIGGAZ THAT GIVE THIS MORE THEN A 3 ARE PRETTY MUCH SAYING ITS BETTER THEN THE ALBUMS BELOW HOW I GOT OVER - THE ROOTS RECOVERY -EMINEM DISTANT RELATIVES- NAS -D.MARLEY

  • wouzi

DIS ALBUM IS A OF JOEY'S BEST ALBUM OF ALL HIS CAREER.

  • Smush

Album of the year without a doubt. Joey listened to his fans and spent more time than he usually does in the studio and the result of that is an incredible album. I'm a huge Fat Joe fan but will admit his last album was not so good it did have 1 or 2 good tracks like the Hey Joe and the Blackout. Every artist has 1 or 2 poor albums in their catalogue (Eminem's Relapse for example). How many artists do you know can put tracks that everybody be bumping? Fat Joe has Make it Rain which everybody jumped on and did their own versions and he did it again with the Darkside Vol.1 with the track Haha (Slow Down) and for this reason I would use the term 'Classic' to describe the album as Joe has surely set out a format for the new decade that future artists will follow for at least the next few years

4 stars for going back to your roots but Recovery is still album of the year, its lyrically on point and Em took it musically to another level which some tasteless niggas cant recognize.. but anyways the Darkside definitely surprised me I guess his gay Miami days are over

  • Nadro The Great

DJ Premier is a BEAST 4EVER!! "I'm Gone" is SICK! Fat Joe needs to stay in this realm. He always shines when fucking with Premo. Key Example: "Shit Is Real (DJ Premier Remix)" Link Below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHhkw8HuHgo

  • Babygirl88

Another weak album by fat joe , he just needs to stop making albums because they never sell and or never anything special . with that said there are some ok beats

  • Em fan #1

If Em made this album it'd be good because Eminem can rap. But this is wack. To be honest that legendary classic Recovery is the only good rap album this year. Drake, Nas/Marley, this fool all pussies. There is only EMINEM!

  • Get off u Beezy

Shiots garbage this dude is done done

    • Your master

That's not what XXL, Hiphopdx, and others say giving it good ratings. hahahah fucking dickrider DARKSIDE IS BETTER THAN UR ENTIRE LIFE

I've always been a Fat Joe, one of the first rappers I started listening to and I must say this album is FIRE!!!!, I really didnt fuck wit JOSE 2 or Elephant In The Room, just wasnt feelin em, but def. feeling Darkside, CRACK'S BACK!!!

  • RJF Music

Finally Fat Joe gives his fan something to listen to, please stay away from Diddy & Miami especially DJ Khaled because the Dream Team is gonna be weak!

  • TDOTMOVEMENT

Even though Im not diggin his new shit...I must say, this album was solid.

  • hiphopsouthside

this is for messing with 50 cent

  • QUEENS

Stay in MIA. We dont like you in NY anymore

  • Kay W

some tracks are banging while others are incredibly wack , 2,5/5

  • Nico 3

TheRealRickRoss - I think 4 star reviews for "average albums" aren't that far fetched, especially when you take into consideration that for the moment, it's new. In a few weeks, something else new will come out and Fat Joe will be back in the studio trying to do it again. If you accept it as junk food entertainment, 4 stars makes sense.

  • Therealrickross11

First off Fat Joe will never be considered a great rapper and is often called a sell out for making so many pop rap songs and never selling records . Fat joe is the poster child for average rapper , this album is not anything special at all to me i dont see how you gave it 4 stars ? there some ok beats but his flow is awful . so ill give it 3 stars just for the beats

    • What Hip Hop?

I'm feeling this album, and I don't even really like fat joe's music for the most part, but there is no such thing as real hip hop.

    • Vacilon de la manana

The album is great. If you ain't feeling it you ain't feeling real hip hop. Flow is perfect.

  • WHOSHOTCAM

what we are witnessing is advanced adaptation/evolution in hiphop.. the past 14 months or so have provided some of the most consistent output of music in hiphop history.. diversity, quality, quanity, serving various age groups.. the growth is tremendous.. long live HIPHOP!

    • Hip Hop is back

I agree with that wholeheartedly. From "The Warm Up" by J Cole, to "Thank Me Later" by Drake, to "Kush and OJ" by Wiz Khalifa, to "How I Got Over" by The Roots, to "Man On The Moon" by Kid Cudi, to "Distant Relatives" by Nas & Damian Marley, to "The Adventures of Bobby Ray" by B.o.B., to "Villa Manifesto" by Slum Village, to "Teflon Don" by Rick Ross, and the list goes on. If Hip Hop is dead, its most definitely making a comeback with quality fucking music like this, instead of hearing the same old stuff that has been rehashed over and over again. Diversity is the key word here, and 2010 is about to blow the doors wide open on this Hip Hop game. And the thing that's most impressive is that it isn't the old cats that are making most of this amazing music, it's the freshmen class. I'm starting to have hope again for the mainstream Hip Hop scene, y'all should too.

    • Fly & Supa Clean

WHOSHOTCAM is right this album is TIGHT!. if yall dont like it put a pineapple up your ass faggots.

    • nigga shut da fuck up

nigga you sound like a fag. you are right but you sound like a fruity ass nigga bruh.

  • buckeyewu

This one should make every Joe fan proud. Back to that NYC grimey shit!

  • Mc Hype

ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF THE YEAR.

  • Philybluntsmoker

That beat for the slow down song already came out on Raekwon's Cocanism Vol. 2 mixtape

    • Philybluntsmoker

Fuck you radio dick rider, dont even step to me about Hip-Hop

    • radioraheem

Wrong moron. The beat for "Slow Down" has been out for months now, since February. Since then the instrumental got put out and a bunch of rappers have done their own remixes/freestyles, from Game To Talib Kweli to D-Block, etc. Get up to date on your hip-hop!

  • island1

THIS IS THE ALBUM OF THE YEAR! HIP HOP IS BACK! THANKS TO JOEY CRAKK!, HE DESERVES A GRAMMY FOR THIS WORK, ONE OF HIS BEST ALBUMS EVER, DOPE BEATS, INCREDIBLE RHYMES, THE SOUTH BRONX IS BACK ON THE MAP. RESPECT DON CARTAGENA, THANK YOU FOR MAKIN' A GREAT RECORD.

  • Graabeklis

Its not bad, but after hearing hits like ''Whats Luv'' and ''Lean Back'' this deserves only 3 stars

  • OG T-BONE

Weakest played out shit! I see no difference between this and Rick Ross..... Crack music is for Dumb PEeople that wish they are Scarface...Wanna bes

  • junMaf*ckn

    Find myself bumpin this Daily!!

  • luizbrazil

    joe still got it!!!

  • ONEOFTHEFEWTOMAKEIT

Now the title classic is thrown around way too much in my opinion as they title should be reserved for albums that are not only artistically and lyrically superior (Illmatic, Reasonable Doubts etc.) but also are technologically groundbreaking (Ultramagnetic 1st,), cause a shift in game (Ice Cube's Amerikka, PE's It Takes a Nation of Million etc.) or are just perfectly crafted (Masta Ace's Sittin on Chrome, Dre's the Chronic 1 and 2 etc.) With that being said (as many can see my musically taste) Joe's album is a solid 3.5/5 in my opinion and in today's climate thats not bad at all. PS. My vote for best LP thus far this year is a tie between Distant Relatives and big Boi's new joint.

  • SilkCityP

This album is the shocker of the year to me! Thus far... I would still say Marcberg has been Album Of The Year for 2010, this gets the nod as the 2nd best to me

  • Levy

The Darkside Vol. 1 >> Before I Self Destruct

  • BALLS

It's still not as good as I thought it would be. It's MOST DEFINITELY not as DARK as I thought it would be, considering how he was sayin it was gonna be. There still are a handful of poppy-produced tracks. There shoulda been more grimy Premier beats on here. Definitely good, but coulda been better. Totally agree with DX on that "Im Gone" shoulda been the last track. I thought that immediately when I listened to the album....

  • arahf

its bizarre, he's doing several bad albums, and when he says he wants to come back to his roots, more harder and all that stuff, suddenly he releases a really big album. "ha ha" and "if it aint about money" are just great.

  • J Van Gundy

Joe came back with this album. I know folks be hatin and his last 2-3 albums were not that great but this one is the old Joe. CRACK!!!!!

  • Bronx Delogate101893

yall needa get outta JOEY'S CRACK!! Shits weeaaaakkkkk!@

    • OG T-BONE

Music about sellig crack the whole album is for dumb people that have no substance!

    • ONEOFTHEFEWTOMAKEIT

@BRONX- Seriously dude, really now??? I will assume your a true hip-hop fan...and if that's true how could you in all honesty say the albums weak??? If if it's not your your cup of tea anyone who has a true appreciation for hip hop will recognize that while the content of the album may not be for them the production and lyrics are far from weak. Is it personal dude??? Now I know you'll most likely come back with some disrespectful shit but you can't lie to yourself the albums tight.

    • Fly & Supa Clean

If you don't like it then why you keep coming here to check what people say?

  • PAPA GUNZ AKA MR FUCK HIP HOP

I Cant lie Joe Definetly did his thing on this new project

  • hahahahahaha

not a song on here that i don't like...definitely not the most lyrical of albums but this shit knocks and all the songs are of high quality...album of the year so far

  • dmfslimm

the bronx did that. new york stand up.

  • dmfslimm

that shit is jammin. if yall aint feelin this album, yall aint feelin hip hop. period.

  • Fokist

Y'all must be tripping if u think that Fat Joe wrote all these songs. C'mon son!! I remember I seen this video of Joey sitting at a table trying to write and he couldn't come up with anything. I'm not hating, just stating! Another thing... JOEY you're not black. So, please stop using the N word. On the last song he calls he son a nigga!?? lol ok... this guy will do anything for the limelight!

    • dmfslimm

i agree, the lyrics are so hard, i dont think he wrote them, either. i was tryin to picture waynes flow on some songs, but shit, wayne makes baby sound like rakim. who couldve ghostwrote for joe?

  • Tdotfromdabronx

The album is just like his name crack! one of his best albums indeed...

  • aTaK

    DOPE BEATS..and rap,

  • ktty

I always liked Fat Joe, tho i haven't paid to much attention to him in the years 2002-2007. I started to check up on him again, when he made that "Brolic" and "That White" track. That's when i knew he was about to get back on track.. and this album prooves it! I love it.. i can't believe how good this album has been produced, Joe is heading for a new peek in his career, talent-wise. Good job, i love this album.. I like every last one of them tracks, tho the only thing i can put a finger on is, why he dident put "Im Gone" as the last track, thats just stupid. Like that review said. Dope to see The Clipse and Cam'Ron on the album! 5 / 5

  • MamaSaidWhat?

4 Stars sounds about right for this one. I've been looking forward to this album ever since Joey said that he was coming of that whole 'i moved to miami, I gotta rap them these guys and weezy' thing he was on. The first single summed things up for what the album sounds like; banging beats and some nice bars, along with some good guest appearances. The album is just the right length cause there's literally no filler material and that premo produced song 'i'm gone' is a great way to end the album cause he even spits in the song that it's the outro. Crack is back with this one, i listened back to JOSE 2 after listening to this and it's crazy how much he stepped his fucking spit game on this.

  • WLW

not feeling it not a hater or anything i just feel thats his 1st albums were better and after pun he isn't on point anymore maybe its just me

  • ItsKgosi!!

Fat joe had lost direction, but he is back on track, he has stopped trying to be the fat lil wayne and is now back to being the bronx bully

  • FINAL GRADE FOR THIS ALBUM

THERES SOME CUTS ON THIS, THIS IS DITC JOE FOR SURE.....I WONT COP IT BUT I CAN SCORE IT DECENT, FAT JOE HAS A HORRID TRACK RECORD BUT THIS ALBUM PROBABLY SAVED HIS CREDIBILITY. 3.5/5

    • THIS ALBUM IS A 5

the decision is final, this is fat joes masterpiece...all his other albums except his ditc minded albums were flops, but this is menacing ditc style joe

    • FINAL GRADE FOR THIS ALBUM

      GIVE IT A 4 ACTUALLY

  • hubcapface

Best album of the year so far along with Big Boi and Nas/Marley. Who would've thought it?

  • ASEE

Solid record. I'm satisfied enough with it. My problem is that although this record contains some fucking INCREDIBLE cuts, it also has a few pieces of shit clinging to it: "If It Ain't About Money", "Heavenly Father", "No Problems", and "At Last Supremacy" (why the fuck is this track on the album? I should have ended with that dope Premo joint). Plus "Kilo" is kind of boring. So although this album has five or six sick tracks--that's only half of the album that's dope for my ears.

  • erocx23

but that im gone beat is too hot to not be rapped over the whole song more than half of it he's just talkin

  • erocx23

joeys always had some fire ass beats if nothin else

  • Ay To Z

I knew this album was gonna be fire. just look at the singles. they street songs not pop shit ive never really liked joe untill i heard these tracks FIRE

  • Fly & Supa Clean

Ratings should be: "Ems recovery = 4.5, ross teflon don 3.0 and darkside 5.0" DARKSIDE A HIP HOPS CLASSIC!

  • Fly & Supa Clean

Tha fuck with the haters? If 50 tells you to put a rocket in your asses youll do it?? dickriders this album is a hip hop classic. 50 minutes of Darkside are better than g units entire biografy.

  • Bronx Delogate101893

im sorry yall ima bronx represnta and would love to see a bx nigga in the game going hard, but crack is WASHED the Fuck UP. a few ok jointz but dont put air into this nigga head, he got no love no where in his own hood, niggasz knew he wasnt shit since back in the days, i remember him askin for his demo played with Dj baby hec, me and hec would SHIT on this nigga he was so wack. a waste a fam, wack bars, and ok beats. sorry joe, u failed. another flopperoni. =p

    • Bronx Delogate101893

nothing i said had the name 50 cent in it. YOU ALL UP JOEY'S CRACKK!!! FAGET

    • I fucked your mother

CONNECTICUT DELOGATE MUST BE YOUR REAL NICK! THIS ALBUM IS FIRE!!! LIKE IT OR NOT. THIS IS A CLASSIC. SO EAT A DICK. CRACKKKK!!!

  • Nico 3

This definately shows Fat Joe with more determination and proves that 50 didn't end his career. If anything, based on how hungry he sounds, he did Joe a favor. He may not get the respect, but I think when you've logged this many years into the rap game, respect becomes less important than just making as many albums as possible. Surviving. At this stage in his career, it's not about being #1, cause #1 doesn't mean what it used too.

  • CRACK!!!!!!!

THIS IS HIS BEST ALBUM AND A HIP HOP CLASSIC!! IT'S BETTER THAN 50 CENT'S ENTIRE LIFE! LMFAO. IT'S CRACK BITCHES!!!

  • RSX

It's reviews like these that make me understand why Charles Hamilton would want to check into a mental hospital. I'm sure he's not exposed to this shit there.

  • deff

busta rhymes got that album he is the best Mc

  • CaliforniaLove

You fools give everything a 4 now huh?? Damn is this "The Source" magazine in the early 2000's or what? I don't understand how artist like Fat Joe and Rick "The swagger jacker" Ross can get a 4 on their albums and Eminem who's album was 100x doper gets the same rating. It just doesn't make any since.

    • ONEOFTHEFEWTOMAKEIT

Cause some of us judge the actual music the artist makes verse whether we like the artist or not. I think Ross is as fake as a 2 dollar bill but the cat has a good ear, pk lyrics and makes good songs. Em can definitely spit but his choice of beats need work and his song writing and arranging is lack luster. Now Em lyric gives his album a 3.5 from me the same as Ross and Joe's overall package ranks theirs the same. It's ok to like more than one artist and music style youngins. No disrespect.

    • gdubs1987

LMFAO @ "since" instead of "sense"

    • you need a hug too

yes they gave it a 4 when it deserved a 5!!! fuck you haters

  • 187 UNIVERSAL

fuck ya'll haters!!! the darkside goes in!!! p.r stand the fuck up!!!

  • WOUZI

FUCK Y'ALL HATERZZ. JOEY CRACK KILLED DIS ALBUM N DIS ALBUM IS 1 OF HIS BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME

  • M.P.

To me, this is another mediocre Fat Joe Album. I'm not feeling this as much as Em's album [which ya'll also gave a 4....which doesn't add up at all]. This album does have SOME bangers, but the concept [darkness] is not fully accomplished at all. Most of this album is cookie-cutter shit Fat Joe and every other mainstream rapper is doing already. 3/5

    • M.P.

@ONEOFTHEFEWTOMAKEIT: I only compared Fat Joe to Em because they both got a 4. It's obvious [to me at least] that this album is not on the level of "Recovery" at all. While "Recovery" wasn't perfect, I would be shocked if lyrically any other rapper can come with an album to match that [In the lyrics department] this year. I'm a hip hop head Forreal, so I applaud Fat Joe for trying to come hard again [pause]. To me, The Roots & Big Boi's albums might be Doper than Em's all around in my opinion just because of their creativity, because we all know creativity is what makes shit[at least] stand out. Fat Joe's new album was lacking that to me...that's all.

    • ONEOFTHEFEWTOMAKEIT

Wow..the Stans are out again...why is it that cats always throw Em in their argument. I mean it's cool to have an opinion but the constant Em dickriding hurts yall credibility as everyone can see how bias your opinions are. I like Em he has had a couple great albums MM and the EM Show but it's not like the cats ever done a classic album so I guess I;m confused why he's so many measuring stick...aside from the obvious which I refrain from saying... DARKSIDE 3.5-3.7/5

    • Levidicus

Niicely said..at leased somebody has theirs ears fully cleaned out lol..Propz

  • Keezie

Can't hate on this one. The production is solid & he does what he does to the max. You can't ask for more from the man.

  • hf2005md

I guess Joe wanna come back to the foundation?

  • Jonan

i skim thru that shit it sucks. nothin special. stale topics, lazy flow and no charisma. he made an effort with the production. fat joe is for twelve year olds. did this nigga jus say he signed big pun. is that true? anyways fuck this fat bastard, and i don't sleep on you i'm hibernatin bitch

  • bennyblancofrombodymoremurdaland

COOKED COKE CRACK..........TOOK IT BACK TO JEALOUS ONE'S ENVY ON THIS ONE....HE DEFINITELY WENT IN ON THIS ONE....

  • TELL THE WORLD MY NAME

OK, THIS ALBUM IS A BIG IMPROVEMENT FROM HIS LAST 2 ALBUMS, BUT IT IS STILL A DRY ALBUM THAT ISN'T WORTH MY MONEY. IT HAS ALOT OF BANGERS & ITS GOOD TO SEE FAT JOE STAYING IN HIS LANE, BUT IT STILL NOTHING REALLY I CAN SEE MYSELF GOING BACK TO. I'M GONE SHOULD'VE BEEN THE LAST TRACK TOO. 3/5

  • nice...

i'll download this shit and give yall a fair assesment. niggas know i hate on joe hard and i do cuz it's fun. fo real a fair assesment tho

  • DANIELSON2

You couldn't give me this fuck album.

  • CLIPZO

havent heard the album but if its true..and this album sells because in the mainstream making a great album means nothing if it doesnt sell...50 didnt knock him out after.. i like 50 because he remains true to his character and hasnt changed with the new hip hop but hes not lyrical and joes pretty good lyrically so its styll a mystery how 50 destroyed this guy...maybe he didnt after all?

  • Whoolio Gee

Damn, Joey Crack came back with a vengeance after getting shitted on after all these years. Shit is dope as fuck from start to finish! Only track i wasn't feeling was the joint with Wayne.

  • c red

not better than teflon don but very solid album joe really came back on this one

  • cOoLaSsNiJa4lIFe

    tite shit

  • Bauce

This shit shoulda came out 10 years ago but good to hear Joe return to his D.I.T.C. sound. J.O.S.E. 2 was a disaster

  • Knuckz

I am glad that Joe took it back to the Darkside. Too many Hip Pop artists out there; it's about time someone give the real hip hop heads something to listen to. Recovery can stay in the stores for what I care.

  • Cincinnati513

Album is crack fa real I keep an eye on Joey. 2010 rap resurrection! Its all coming together again. This may be a great year for artists.

  • RESPECT

I like how Fat Joe actually showed some respect to GURU on this album with a premo beat. But that's all I have to say about this cd.

  • Levy

pretty good album! Don Cartagena is back!

  • bob0923

how does this fucking recycled garbage get the same rating as recovery. I hate dx's reviews.

  • SHUTTAMAN

This shit wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Teflon DOn nigga. FAT JOE NIGGA

  • bixxx

Honestly I aint heard much of Fat Joe since that ashanti collabo, but some good songs were gettin leaked n i picked this up. damn...the sound is head n shoulders above rnb 'rap' getting thrown around recently. Good job, Joe..

  • Bean-Town

Joey broght it back to the BX

  • fcvs

the difference is 50 cent is a legend and fat joe is nobody you don't need to reply cause you're gonna say I'm a dick rider but I'm only talking about facts.. Fat joe ain't got classic albums Fat joe never sold shit No one knows fat joe worldwide And for the guy who said that this album is better than all 50 discography, you should listen to power of the dollar.. not to mention others..

    • Anonymous

f what you sayin hoe ass niggas find a shit pattie choke on it .

    • Mastadon

B.I.G. is a legend, Jay is a legend, Tupac is a legend and so on. I wouldn't even consider putting 50 in the legend category

    • ardian

Don Cartagena was a badass album from fat joe a classic in my eyes...with the help of big pun of course

    • fcvs

yes for idiots like you I'm a dickrider that's why I said that.. when people don't have the same opinion as you then he is a dickrider.. grow your brains.. records sold don't say if an artist is a legend but look at fat joe record sales.. wtf is that? get rich or die tryin and the massacre are classic like his mixtapes not only power of the dollar ps: bumping ready to die from B.I.G. now

    • Knuckz

You got it wrong nigga. 50 sold records, he is NOT a legend. 50's star faded in 2004. He has one good album and needed help from Dre & Em to make him relevant. Maybe if he hadn't stole Ja's style he would still be at the top. Fat Joe is a legend and has been in the game since 1993. No he doesn't sell as many records, but he gets more respect. like the CD; it is his best since All or Nothing.

    • GERMANDUDE

wtf? the only 50 cent album thats worth to listen is "power of the dollar", stan.

    • Bean-Town

      Atleast u know ur a dickrider...smh...lmpraorfl!!!!!

  • D.D.410wutup

say what you want about fat joe, and alot has been said, but his albums always have 4 or 5 bangers and a good ladies jam. he's not what he was back in the john blaze/j.o.s.e. days, but he would still get a spot in the hall of fame.

O wait .. now I know youre 50 who still has to come outta the closet Wu 4 life ... Big fucking shout out to Joey 4 gettin back to the street gutter anthems. • Music listener

Kill yourself before eminem makes another track with the don sucker!!! dick rider this albgums better than 50s entire discography!

  • Music listener

Joey went hard in this album. Unlike the last one this has nothing to do with autotunes or synth beats. Pure hip hop with samples and ill punchlines.
