When the picture of Rihanna, bloody and bruised after a beating from then boyfriend Chris Brown, surfaced on the internet, it was hard for many people to take. The image was something Chris Brown himself couldn’t believe. Now that the trial is over, Brown and his mother Joyce Hawkins have been interviewed for the first time after his sentencing about his punishment and more on Larry King Live [click here] as Brown admits that “everything comes with consequences.”

When I look at it now, it’s just like, wow, like, I can’t — I can’t believe that — that actually happened,” he told King.

His mother added that Brown has never been the type to use violence.

Chris has never, ever been a violent person, ever,” she said in the interview, before adding that she was also a victim of domestic abuse, something Brown had to live through.

“I used to be scared to go to bed,” he added, before saying he never learned how to control his anger.

Nobody taught us how to love one another. Nobody taught us a book on how to—how to control our emotions or our anger. I wish I could have changed that night.”

Brown’s mother also added that Rihanna calls her “mom” and that the two have spoken since the incident.

[I] let her know that I was very, very baffled, what had happened, and apologized for my son, along with I’m so sorry what happened to you. And I didn’t know what—I didn’t know what else to say, and I gave her a hug, and she hugged me, as well,” she said of her conversation with Rihanna.

Brown also added that “everything comes with consequences” and said he feels he can do what is asked of him.

They want me to pick up trash remove graffiti. I’m a hard worker.  It’s something I’m willing to do.”
