Exodus Tyson, four-year-old daughter of former boxer Mike Tyson, died yesterday (May 26), one day after her neck was apparently caught in a treadmill cord.
According to The Associated Press, Tyson was pronounced dead before noon, said police Sgt. Andy Hill. In what was described as a “tragic accident,” police said their investigation dismissed any notion of foul play.
“There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus,” said the family via statement. “We ask you now to please respect our
need at this very difficult time for privacy to grieve and try to help
each other heal.“
Police concluded that Exodus either slipped or placed her head in the loop of a cord which hung from underneath the console of the treadmill. Her seven-year-old brother found her and alerted his mother, who took Exodus off of the cord, dialed 911 and attempted to revive her. Officers and firefighters performed CPR en route to the hospital.
Mike Tyson was in Las Vegas at the time of the accident, and flew to Phoenix the day of the accident, where he was seen entering a hospital.
Tyson, whose rise to fame and infamy as former boxing heavyweight champion of the world is well-documented, was the recent subject of a documentary about his life entitled Tyson.
HipHopDX would like to extend our condolences to the Tyson family in this difficult time.
