After what seems like an ongoing civil rights battle in Cincinnati, Ohio, yet another hip-hop act cancels their scheduled concert in the city. On a two-week college tour to promote his upcoming album ‘Masquerade’, Wyclef Jean canceled his headlining concert at the University of Cincinnati. In a statement released through Columbia Records Wylcef said, “Because I believe there are ongoing civil rights violations in Cincinnati I have chosen to support the current boycott and not perform on May 2. I hope my fans will understand my decision and join me in the support of human rights everywhere.”

Once the University of Cincinnati received word that Wyclef Jean would no longer be a part of their Spring Concert they quickly tried to replace him with rapper Juvenile. Due to set and production schedules, he too was unable to perform at their concert. The head of The Coalition for a Just Cincinnati, Amanda Mayes, deny the group influenced Wyclef decision to not participate in the event, but feel he has helped their cause. “We are glad to know that Wyclef is not coming to this city while the status quo remains.”

Wyclef’s new album Masquerade is set to drop in stores June 18th.
