There has been a lot of talk about the security measures taken to protect Eminem’s impending release from bootlegging, but only from the aspect of it leaking to the Internet before it’s release date on June 4th.
There is another issue of bootlegging and that is once the album is released. It only takes a few minutes to copy a CD to your computers hard drive, from there is can be made easily available on file sharing programs. There is also the issue of straight copies, as in copying the CD to a blank one.
Apparently, Universal (who distributes for Interscope) will be applying their much talked about anti-copying technology to “The Eminem Show.” The technology makes the CD unable to copy, whether it be to your hard drive or to a blank disk. Something tells me that someone will find a way around this technology.
