According to XXLMag.com, The Roots [click to read] have finally announced a release date for their ninth studio album entitled How I Got Over.

The RootsBlack Thought revealed to XXL that the band is aiming for a June release date.

The new record is well underway—right now, it’s about completed,Black Thought explained. “It’s a more celebratory album—the story of triumph and the rise of the brand that is ‘The Roots,’ and how we kept our heads above water consistently for so many years in the game without taking a hiatus, maintaining some love and relevancy for all this time.

Aside from serving as the house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Roots have also been performing at New York’s Highline Ballroom on their off days as part of The RootsJam Session.

The RootsJam Session consists of live performances by the Philadelphia-based outfit along with guest appearances by artists such as Talib Kweli, Wale, Joell Ortiz, and Blitz The Ambassador [click to read].

E! News is reporting that rapper Method Man will appear in the upcoming World War II film Red Tails.

The film, which has been delayed for some time, will center around a group of African American pilots and the racism they had to overcome to take part in the war.

Aside from Method Man, other actors to perform in the film will include Ne-Yo, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Terrence Howard.

Method Man will also appear in the cop-thriller Sinners And Saints and Strife, a comedy about teens living in Los Angeles.
