Chris Brown pleaded no guilty to two felony charges in the assault case against him yesterday (March 6).

According to CNN.com, the only words heard from Brown, 19, during the proceedings were “not guilty,” which he said twice as Judge Patricia Schnegg asked for his plea on both counts.

Brown is charged with felony counts of assault and making criminal threats. If convicted, he could face a maximum of four years and eight months in prison, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Donald Etra, Rihanna‘s lawyer, told reporters after the hearing that the songstress “would prefer that the matter be resolved expeditiously and fairly.

She believes that the quicker this case is over, the more quickly she can get back to her life and her career, which is exactly what she’d like to do,” added Etra.

Etra says that Rihannais in fine spirits, she’s doing fine,” and that “if asked to testify, she will do so.
