Lil’ Wayne spoke with MTV News recently about working on Dr. Dre’s highly anticipated album, Detox.

“I’m trying to get Eminem on this song for my album,” said Weezy . “I did a little something for Dr. Dre‘s new album [Detox]. When you’re busy like us, you just send the song. I just wrote some stuff for [Dre], and hopefully he’ll like it.”

Full of high ambitions, Wayne also revealed he would be releasing rock and R&B albums at some point in the future, but didn’t say when.

Also with MTV News were the Re-Up Gang, consisting of The Clipse (Malice P and Pusha T), Ab Liva and Sandman. The crew spoke on their upcoming mixtape, We Got it 4 Cheap Vol. 3: The Spirit of Competition. The album consists of the group rapping over beats by other artists which they selected.

“Who do I see as competition for us?”
mused Malice. “None. I don’t
feel it’s anybody out there who do what we do and is as thorough as my
crew. That’s how we feel about it.

“We been selecting tracks for a minute,” continued Malice, “trying to figure
out what beats were relevant and what beats made sense. We took it back
to [Raekwon and Ghostface’s] ‘Rainy Dayz,’ [Ruff Ryders‘] ‘Scenario
2000.’ The beats are hot.”

Also on the mixtape will be rhymes over Obie Trice’s Cry Now, Jay-Z’s Roc Boyz, as well as others.
