In a recent interview with Spin magazine, Definitive Jux rapper Cage stated that there is a movie in the works on the Middletown, New Yorker’s life. Shockingly, one interested candidate for the lead is former Disney star Shia LaBeouf. “I have been listening to Cage since I got into Hip Hop when I was 12,” the 21-year-old star of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull told the magazine.

The interest began over a year ago, when the actor began to shadow the emcee throughout his Hell’s Winter tour, where LaBeouf learned the stories often heard in the raps of physical abuse, drugs and sex that helped make the former Fondle ‘Em and Eastern Conference Records artist such a cult followed act in underground Hip Hop.

The former child-actor added, “It’s kind of like how no matter what film [Robert] De Niro was making, he was always ready to pull Raging Bull out of his back pocket. Cage is my Jake LaMotta.Oscar-comparisons aside, the rapper has also revealed that the work will chronicle his birth to his late ’90s hit “Agent Orange,” recorded at the height of the rapper’s near-fatal battle with drugs.

The film is still without script, due in part to the current writer’s strike in Los Angeles.

Cage is presently at work on Depart From Me, a Rock-influenced extension of his acclaimed last album, Hell’s Winter, which featured production by El-P, RJD2 and DJ Shadow. The new work features guidance and collaboration from members of Hatebreed and Glassjaw.
