Earlier this week HipHopDX
brought you news of Nas announcing
his new album title
, Nigga, during a
performance in NYC and that it would be released December 4th of
this year.

According to foxnews.com, representatives for Island Def Jam not only denied the LP
title but they went on to say that there isn’t even a release date for Nas in the fourth quarter, outside of NasGreatest Hits (which will hit stores early November).

“There is no album release by Nas on the
release schedule at this point … and they would be unlikely to release an album
with that title. How would that look at Wal-Mart?”
a rep close to Island Def Jam’s Chariman, Antonio “L.A.”
Reid, stated.

With the controversial album title floating around, Rev. Jesse Jackson condemned Nas’ desired title.

“The title using the ‘N’
word is morally offensive and socially distasteful … Nas has the right to
degrade and denigrate in the name of free speech, but there is no honor in it,”

Jackson said in a statement.

“Radio and television
stations have no obligation to play it and self-respecting people have no
obligation to buy it. I wish he would use his talents to lift up and inspire,
not degrade, making mockery of racism.”

Alongside Jackson’s
thoughts, the NAACP weigh in on the
LP title.

“We will not support
and we will not continually be assailed by other individuals who want to use
that type of term in our presence … This has gone on long enough,”

said national NAACP spokesman
Richard McIntire.

believes in free speech. We are not a censorship organization. But we think
[the N-word] is pejorative, no matter who uses it … even if it’s to sell
records. It shows a real lack of creative imagination,”
Vic Bulluck,
executive director of NAACP’s
Hollywood bureau, added.

Despite upraise and negative thoughts towards the claimed
album title, Nas seems to have none
other than Don Imus in his corner.

“It’s a good thing …
Words like that should be deprived of their meanings and then they can’t hurt,”

Martin Garbus, Don Imus’ lawyer,
wrote in an email to foxnews.
