Fela Kuti’s family isn’t playing when it comes to Kanye West. After Fela’ son Seun Kuti caught wind of the comments ‘Ye made about his late father earlier this month, he issued a statement on Instagram assuring people Fela’s spirit has nothing to do with the G.O.O.D. Music boss.

In the caption, Seun calls on Ziggy Marley and Ebro Darden to check ‘Ye. Kanye also name-dropped reggae legend Bob Marley during his Twitter rant.

“Erm erm on behalf of the Kuti family, I want to state that the spirit of Olufela Anikulapo Kuti isn’t anywhere near Kanye West,” he wrote. “@ziggymarley over to you. @oldmanebro come get ur boi before I #getthesax.”

Along with the statement, Seun reposted a video clip of ‘Ye’s original comments.

“The music [in Africa] is the best on the planet,” Kanye said earlier this month. “I am the best living recording artist. We, rather, because the spirits flow through me. The spirit of Fela, the spirit of Marley, the spirit of ‘Pac flows through me. We know who’s the best.”

‘Ye, of course, is in Uganda finishing his ninth studio album Yandhiand evidently ruffling feathers along the way.
