With a name like Indian Trap, one can expect the music to go a myriad of ways.

That being said, producer Jay Singh is well aware of the attention his moniker may bring but he’s simply out to make dope music.

Which is exactly what his KresZenia and Chris Scholar-featured, HipHopDX-premiered single, “Trapped” is bringing to the table.

“‘Trapped’ is a fusion of trap and Hip Hop Music combined with authentic Indian vocals, Indian rhythmic percussion and sounds with banging dirty 808’s,” the burgeoning soundman tells DX. “It has an infectious uplifting R&B chorus combined with female rap vocals in the verses. The biggest inspiration for me is for my music to be felt, not just heard.”

The catchy record does indeed employ the same South Asian sensibilities past rap memorabilia such as Truth Hurt’s DJ Quik-produced “Addictive” but rounds things out with a decidedly Hip Hop ebb and flow and neatly executed chorus. (“I come from a musical family spanning many generations. My first love of music was urban music, especially hip-hop and R&B, as well as Indian music. From there I followed my passion and started to DJ. Through that, I found my love for EDM music as well,” he adds.)
