Nike has commanded much of the attention in the sneaker industry due to its new deal with former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, but adidas is making moves too. The company announced a collaboration with Childish Gambino — a.k.a. Donald Glover — via social media on Wednesday (September 5).
The Twitter and Instagram accounts for adidas Originals revealed the news along with an animated video featuring Gambino.
“A collaboration without boundaries, welcome to the family @ChildishGambino,” reads the caption on Instagram.
The accompanying video features the same style of animation from Gambino’s recently released visuals for “Feels Like Summer.” Animators Greg Sharp and Ivan Dixon return for this sequel, which is also directed by Glover.

“I believe it’s important not to feel like ideas are bound by specific guidelines and adidas Originals has given me the opportunity to create on my own terms,” Glover said in a press release. I’m looking forward to seeing what that leads to.”
