Broward County, Florida native XXXTENTACION claimed he was going “to disappear for a little while” earlier this month. It turns out X’s vanishing act may have been a way for the rapper to knock out some work on his debut album.

In a series of posts shared via Instagram Stories, X revealed his plans to drop the project next month. Titled 17, the album appears to be scheduled for an August 25 release.

“17 the album, august 25th,” he wrote. “It’s my first body of work, first official album release, and the first time I’ve put my all into a project. I mean it when I say this project is absolutely amazing.”

“If you listen to me to get hype or to not think, don’t buy this album,” he wrote. “This one is for the depression, for the depressed ones, for the lost ones.”

X had a wild run on his Revenge Tour this summer. In June, he was knocked out during his performance in San Diego and a 19-year-old concertgoer was stabbed. He eventually canceled the remaining tour dates after learning his cousin had been shot.
