The Thursday (May 4) version of the DX Digest places a recently unearthed freestyle from Big Daddy Kane (courtesy of British radio host Tim Westwood) in the top slot with The LOX’s “Dodge Van” freestyle over Drake’s More Life single, “Can’t Have Everything,” riding shotgun. Kid Ink’s video for “F With U” with Ty Dolla $ign, Jallal’s Chad Hugo-produced single with Ne-Yo, “Toss & Turn,” and OG Maco’s “Pigs” round out the Top 5. Keep scrolling for new music from battle rapper Real Deal, Tristate and Oh No, solo Ne-Yo, MC White Owl, and Otis Clapp.

big daddy kane – vintage tim westwood Freestyle

Seventeen years ago, Hip Hop luminary Big Daddy Kane was a special guest at Tim Westwood’s studio in the U.K. The veteran radio host has unearthed another jewel in the form of a vintage Kane freestyle over Prodigy and Alchemist’s “Keep It Thoro” instrumental that was a result of that visit. The New York-based MC has been in the game since emerging with the Juice Crew in the early ’80s, and catapulted to legendary status after solo albums like 1988’s Long Live The Kane and 1989’s It’s A Big Daddy Thing. Listen to the rare freestyle above.

The lox – “dodge van (freestyle)”

The LOX has dropped a vicious freestyle over Drake’s “Can’t Have Everything,” which finds Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P giving it their all for over three minutes. The trifecta of MCs recently announced a headlining set at 2017 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival with DMX, however, considering the troubled rapper just checked into rehab, that could be up in the air.

Kid Ink f. ty Dolla $ign – “f with U

Directed by Mike Ho, Kid Ink’s most recent video, “F With U,” features Ty Dolla $ign, DJ Mustard on the beat, a hilltop mansion, and plenty of water guns for their ensuing pool party. The visual follows Ink’s last single “Swish” with 2 Chainz that debuted in February.

jallal f. ne-yo – “Toss & Turn” (produced by Chad Hugo)

It’s not every day we get a track produced by The Neptunes’ Chad Hugo, but alas, Jallal’s new track “Toss & Turn” featuring Ne-Yo boasts Hugo on the beat. While the other half of The Neptunes, Pharrell, continues to bask in the limelight, finding Hugo on something is like spotting a unicorn. Check it out above.

Og Maco – “Pigs”

Featuring Man Man Savage and XVL Hendrix, OG Maco’s latest single, “Pigs,” serves as the third single from his upcoming project, the OG Maco EP. As the cover art and title may indicate, the song revolves around the age-old concept of “snitches get stitches.”

Real deal – “The axis of evil”

Battle rapper Real Deal has brought along an all-star cast of characters for his new video, “The Axis of Evil,” which also features Bender, Tony D, Protege and Respek BA. Produced by JBG and Big C, the track comes from The Mount Oliver Project. Cop it here.

Tristate & Oh No – “spaceship”

On the heels of their collaborative release, 3 Dimensional Prescriptions, veteran Hip Hop artists Oh No and Tristate are back with a visual for “Spaceship,” one of the album’s singles. The track explores a futuristic realm of rap.

Ne-Yo – “HUMBLE.” REmix

Jumping on the hype of Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. album, Ne-Yo has remixed one of the project’s standout singles, “HUMBLE.”

Otis Clapp f. scienze – “waiting”

Queens rapper/producer Otis Clapp is set to release his Helen Keller EP on May 19, but before it drops, is back with another taste of the project, “Waiting,” which features fellow New Yorker ScienZe and a heavy sample from The Doors. So far, Clapp has leaked four of the seven original songs from the forthcoming project.

MC White owl – “pickle juice”

Produced by Jakk Wonders, MC White Owl’s “Pickle Juice” has been making waves on SoundCloud as it approaches the 10,000 views mark, which is pretty decent for a relatively unknown artist. The song comes from his forthcoming album, Born Yesterday.
