Kevin Gates is stuck behind bars for now after the rapper was denied bail pending a trial on weapons charges. Gates was present for a hearing at Bridgeview Courthouse in Illinois on April 19, where the judge denied the rapper bail.
TMZ, who first reported the story, didn’t report a reason for the judge’s decision. Gates is now being held at Kendall County Jail.
Gates had previously served the majority of a six-month sentence in Florida for kicking an audience member from the stage while performing. While being processed for release, he was arrested on an outstanding warrant for the Illinois weapons charges that now see him behind bars.

Gates’ wife Dreka has not commented on the court’s decision to refuse Kevin the possibility of bail, but she did share a message of support after the rapper’s re-arrest back in March.
On her own Instagram, she wrote: “To everyone that’s rooting for Kevin right now, THANK YOU, but PLEASE shift your thoughts, prayers, energy, etc. towards the idea of Kevin being home and enjoying his life as a free man.”
