Twitterverse – Anthony Tiffith, founder of Top Dawg Entertainment and subject of Kendrick Lamar’s “DUCKWORTH.” single, took to Twitter on Wednesday (April 19) to squash the rumors Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave had once turned down a deal with TDE. The post was prompted by Troy’s claim that K. Dot had once given him props on his music and that he had considered joining the TDE, something he addresses on “Truth Be Told PSA” from his NuPac mixtape.
“4 the record…I’ve never had a convo with Troy ave or any 1 in his camp..neither has KDot,” Tiffith wrote. “Yesterdays story was fake news…#TDE.”
Considering Troy has blatantly dissed K. Dot in the past, calling him a “weirdo rapper,” it’s surprising he’d even want to make the claims in the first place. However, this isn’t the first time an artist has announced a false affiliation with the reputable label. In August 2016, rapper RetcH made several Twitter posts alluding to his new home at TDE, but after he was called out on it, he quickly backpedaled and said he was joking.
It’s unclear what’s really going on in Troy Ave’s head. From drawing his own comparisons between himself and the late Tupac Shakur to this latest stunt, perhaps he’s desperate for the attention. Whatever the case, check out the tweet above and find the song in question down below.
