Directed and written by Jordan Peele, Get Outwas one of those films that wowed its audiences with its satirical approach and brilliant socio-political commentary on racism in America, so it comes as no surprise the movie earned six nominations at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. British actor Daniel Kaluuya, who played the lead role, is up for Best Actor in a Movie while the film itself is up for Movie of the Year. Other nominations include Best Villain, Best Duo, Best Fight Against The System and the Next Generation award.

This is the first year MTV is expanding the awards to include television, making it even more impressive Get Out was able to dominate the list. Other films or television series up for an award include Donald Glover’s Atlanta, which has three nominations, VH1’s Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Partywhich grabbed one for Best Duo and Netflix’s Luke Cage, which garnered two nominations.
