J. Cole's "4 Your Eyez Only" Goes Platinum (With No Features)

Dude. Yes all of those things happened, but J Cole has been building his brand for a while. Whether stockpiling great records like Lights Please and Lost Ones for his debut projects, shooting videos for them years in the past believing in himself, he has continually strived for greatness. Greatness is not flooding the streets with a million records and hoping one sticks, it's being self aware of your value and not settling for less. He has worked hard to get where he is, but now you can see his comfortable position as an artist, you'll understand that the radio angle he went for in the past was just to break through what other people required of him in the beginning of his career. He has creative freedom these days. They barely pump any promotion into this dude, and he comes around once every few years with 12 songs and goes platinum. Do you think Roc Nation is complaining that he carefully nurtured his fanbase and rewards them, unselfishly?
