Hip Hop paid tribute to Biggie Smalls on March 9, marking the 20-year anniversary of the iconic rapper’s tragic death. But the borough of Brooklyn also used March 9 to celebrate one of its other most famous sons, awarding the Key of Brooklyn to rapper Fabolous.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams awarded the accolade to Fabolous during an IconTalks event, and there were plenty of big names present, including Wale, DJ Clue and Ryan Leslie. Adams further revealed that a street would be named after Fabolous in Brooklyn, real name John David Jackson, later this year.

Swizz Beatz praised his friend and pleaded with him to get back into the recording studio to drop a new album. He also said “He’s the secret weapon for fashion, the secret weapon for music, the secret weapon for creativity, he’s the secret weapon behind a lot of artists doing what they do today,” according to Missinfo.tv.
