Ice-T is one of Hip Hop’s most active voices on Twitter, and he used the social media tool to have a little fun at the expense of Donald Trump supporters this week. The longtime rapper and actor tweeted that he turned down Trump’s invitation to perform at January’s inauguration and has since been fielding a bevy of responses that took the joke far too seriously.

“I just got [a] call to perform at the Inauguration…I didn’t pick up and Blocked the number,” tweeted Ice Thursday night (Dec. 15) without context. The tweet was retweeted thousands of times and responses ranged from laughter to all-out anger.  One Trump supporter called Ice a liar, to which he responded dryly, “lol…..Ya think?”

Eventually, Ice let everyone in on the joke but the damage was done. Still, Ice dug in a bit more at the Trumpers before moving on to talk about his long-running NBC series, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which he has been a central part of since 2000.
