Baton Rouge, LA – NBA YoungBoy is currently being held at the East Baton Rouge Parish prison in his native Louisiana on charges of attempted first-degree murder. New details have emerged that connects another shooting event to the 17-year-old rapper’s ongoing case.
YoungBoy, born Kentrell Gaulden of Baton Rouge, was arrested on November 28 at a performance venue in Austin, Texas. According to a report from local network WALB, YoungBoy was one of three people in a car during a drive-by shooting in a Baton Rouge neighborhood on November 2. The getaway vehicle caught a flat and was wrecked, with all three fleeing the scene before cops arrived. Police were able to link YoungBoy to the case as a passenger in the car.
Police say the drive-by appears to be in retaliation to the shooting death of 18-year-old Keondrae Ricks, who was found shot dead just eight hours before the incident that NBA YoungBoy is being charged for.
The following day (November 3), another drive-by shooting believed to be connected to the first two took place in the same neighborhood, according to the police report. In that case, 20-year-old Derrick Guice was arrested and charged with being principal to attempted second-degree murder. Guice was later identified as the driver in the incident.
YoungBoy, facing two attempted murder charges, is being held on a $200,000 bond.
