Los Angeles, CA

Well, this is perfect timing. Last month, New York’s Museum Of Modern Art announced that NTT DOCOMO’s original emoji set has been added to its prestigious collection. Emoji’s have been deemed the most disruptive new language in history. Today, EmoJam announces what it hopes will be the world’s next great mode of communication.

The company’s self-titled app allows users to send encrypted  “music enhanced emojis” to each other through Apple messaging communications. For example, let’s say a friend wants to meet for lunch, but your 9-to-5 has you tied up, you can send Rihanna’s “Work” Emojam.

The company has partnered with Def Jam artist Bibi Bourelly, who self-directed her collection of musical emojis for each song of her new EP Free The Real (Pt. 2).

“Working with Bibi and Def Jam has been an ideal and genuine collaboration,” says EmoJam founder, LouMa through press release. “I came working at Def Jam then into the world of tech so it feels great to come back to them and have them give us “carte blanche” to build what the artist wanted.  We sat down with Bibi, brainstormed about how she would like her music to be visually represented in the emoji language and she self-directed this campaign. These types of collaborative relationships between creative and tech are shaping the future of the music industry. Artists want to engage with their fans through tech… We are here to make this happen, in an organic and direct way.”

EmoJam is available now on the App Store. There are 24 Hip Hop and R&B Emojams available at launch. New jamming emojis will be added weekly. Watch the video below to see how it works.
