Drake blew up the internet again with his Kid Cudi and Pusha T diss track “Two Birds, One Stone,” which surprisingly had Kanye West listed as a co-producer and co-lyricist. The Cudi diss maybe made sense considering the former G.O.O.D. Music artist put Yeezy and Drizzy on blast in a Twitter rant last month before heading into rehab. But why would ‘Ye contribute to a diss track against the president of his label?
Noah “40” Shebib, Drake’s Day 1 who is also credited for production on “Two Birds, One Stone,” spoke with Genius to help clarify the situation.
“Me and Kanye produced the track,” he said. “I made it from some drums he had given me. Not quite the elaborate story the world is looking for.”
And that’s it.
Drake and Kanye have been supposedly working on a joint album and West did contribute to production on the VIEWS cut “U With Me?” a tag-team effort with 40, so there’s probably been plenty of opportunity for them to collaborate.
As for the co-lyricist/composer credits for Kanye, a source close to the situation told HipHopDX, “When someone contributes to a song as a producer/musician they are considered a writer, as he is alongside Noah Shebib and the other musicians on the song.”
