Given that the BET Hip Hop Awards cyphers are often the most talked about portion of the show, it comes as no surprise that the occasional dispute about them should arise.

This year, Brooklyn lyricist Young M.A turned to social media to express her disappointment at her cypher being cut short.

“Yo, they cut mad on my cypher, son. I said way more than that. They split my shit up. And put that shit into some small-ass time,” Young M.A said in a video uploaded to Twitter.

Young M.A did later express her appreciation for the opportunity, and also thanked supporters via an Instagram post, which included video of the cypher.

“even tho it was chopped short.. I still appreciate the opportunity it’s a couple things I touched on that they didn’t show that’s why I was a little disappointed.. But I just want to say thank you to all my supporters for supporting me no matter what,” she wrote in the caption to her Instagram post.

In addition to appearing in the cypher, Young M.A also hit the stage at the BET Hip Hop Awards to perform “OOOUUU,” a record which has spawned remixes from the likes of French Montana and 50 Cent.
