Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo (born Carlos Walker) has died in a car accident, his manager confirmed through radio personality Ryan Cameron.

Shawty Lo’s manager, Johnnie Cabbell, expressed his grief in a post uploaded to Instagram shortly after news of the fatal accident spread.

“I am so so so devastated that words can not describe how I feel right now,” Cabbell wrote. “Shawty Lo was not just my artist he was my Brother He was My Friend. I have been Lo MGR for over 10yrs He was Loyal and he had my back when no one else did. I could count on him when I had no one else to turn to. We been thru so much together. If you knew Lo then you know he was genuine He was Real he would do anything he could if he had it. I Genuinely love this man like my blood brother. I Will Keep His Name Alive and and His Music !!!! Please Pray for Us The Whole D4L Family Lo Family His Mom His Kids His Children Mothers We need you all prayers and Support!!!!!!”

Fabo, a former member of the Shawty Lo-founded rap quartet D4L provided this simple message on Twitter: “Dear God, take care of my brother. #BankheadlegendShawty The realest ever created.”

Future offered a similar sentiment, declaring that “legends never die.”

DJ Drama, Tony Yayo, and N.O.R.E. also reminisced on the late rapper.

Zoey Dollaz, DJ Scream, and Rickey Smiley joined the growing list of those expressing their condolences on Twitter.

As one of the pioneers of snap music and a former member of the rap group D4L, Shawty Lo helped in crafting hits like “Betcha Can’t Do It Like Me” and “Laffy Taffy.” The latter reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2006.

The Moultrie, Georgia-born musician also found success as a solo artist, dropping his debut album, Units In The City, in 2008. The album featured the single “Dey Know,” which was later graced with verses from Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Jeezy, and Plies in a remixed version.
