Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, is facing divorce after his wife wants out of a nearly one-year marriage as he is fighting felony rape charges. According to the Daily Mail, the rapper’s kin was hit with the papers by his wife August 18, days short of his first-year wedding anniversary. The divorce is filed as “Uncontested Matrimonial,” which indicates that the separation is agreed upon by both sides.

Maraj, 37, could face life in prison if found guilty of charges after he is accused of raping a 12-year-old girl multiple times. He had been given four days to consider a plea deal last week. He was indicted in April.

The man was arrested in December and reports circulated that Minaj posted his $100,000 bail, but those turned out to be false as it was their mother who got him out of jail by putting up her house and promissory notes.

The rap star attended her brother’s wedding last August.

Maraj is scheduled to be back in court this month for a conference.
