There would be a lot of pressure on any artist paying tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. and Rich Homie Quan says he let it get to him as he forgot the lyrics to “Get Money” at VH1 Hip Hop Honors: All Hail The Queen. Of course, the Internet was ruthless in its jabs at Rich Homie after the mishap.

The Atlanta rapper apologizes for his performance, which was a tribute to Lil Kim, in an Instagram post. He explains that when he came on stage, he experienced “technical difficulties” and “got nervous.”

“I assure you that I never intended to disrespect Biggie Smalls,” Rich Homie Quan says. “I have long respected his work and his contribution to the rap game. I greatly apologize not only to Biggie Smalls, but also to all of my fans and to New York. The city of New York has been nothing but good to me.”

The “Flex” rapper joined Lil Kim on stage as the program paid tribute to iconic women in Hip Hop. The other honorees were Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott and Salt-N-Pepa.

“I felt honored to stand on stage with artists I grew up listening to,” he continues.

Rich Homie seems sincere enough as he humbly concludes his post.

“I hope you can accept my apology,” he says. “To Lil Kim, Thank you for the opportunity. Rich Homie Baby.”

Lil Kim reposted Rich Homie Quan’s note and said she accepts his apology. She confirmed his claims of the technical difficulties and said she considers him a friend.

“Spoken like a true giant,” she wrote. “I loved you before and I’m gonna love you after Rich Homie. People make mistakes and things happen sometimes that we can’t fix or undo. If you guys only knew the technical difficulties that went on behind the scenes. I would like to thank my friend @richhomiequan for coming through for me at the last minute. It’s all love.”
