Slick Rick is now set to travel the world as an American citizen as he is scheduled to appear at Germany’s Out4FAME Festival July 31. Set to join him in the city of Cologne are De La Soul, Method Man, Redman, Rick Ross and German rapper Sido.

I am honored to have been invited to perform at the Out4FAME festival” Slick Rick says in a press release. “And to be sharing a stage with my emcee brothers, at one the most highly-regarded hip-hop festivals outside of the United States will be unforgettable. I am looking forward to checking out the German culture, and performing my German fans. I will also be confirming more foreign dates in the very near future.”

Among those dates is said to be a homecoming show in the United Kingdom projected for this winter.

His appearance at Out4Fame will be Slick Rick’s first time performing overseas since 1990. The British-born legend was finally granted his American citizenship in April after a 23-year battle with the Department of Homeland Security.

Rick’s residency in the United States came into question when he pleaded guilty to attempted murder charges in 1991 after shooting his cousin and an innocent bystander. He served time in prison and completed parole in 2000. The rapper was granted an unconditional pardon by New York governor David Paterson in 2008, but was still threatened with deportation.

He moved to the Bronx, New York at the age of 11 and grew up alongside other Hip Hop acts including Dana Dane.
