Iggy Azalea’s long-awaited sophomore studio album, Digital Distortion, most likely won’t be dropping on its previously announced release date of June 22, but the Australian rap star will still be keeping busy in the spotlight.

She will return to her birthplace to serve as a judge on The X Factor Australia.

Iggy Iggz will replace Dannii Minogue (sister of Kylie) for the upcoming eighth season of the Aussie offshoot of the series started by Simon Cowell.

“I really didn’t picture myself being a judge on any kind of television show but I think that actually this could be a good fit for me, so I said yes,” she admitted to The Daily Telegraph following an appearance on Good Morning America where she also performed her new single, “Team.”

“Initially I didn’t know but then I thought it would be good to come back to Australia and have an opportunity to spend some time there and obviously to see my family, who live in [her hometown of] Sydney,” she continued with the paper. “So I think it will be a good situation for multiple reasons. I’m really excited and I don’t really know what to expect.”

The two-year gap in between Azalea hasn’t exactly kept the Billboard-topping artist’s career in the best positive light within the Hip Hop community. For a time, it appeared the 26-year-old star was only making headlines for engaging in social media battles (hence the album’s title), engaging in feuds with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Q-Tip and Azealia Banks and even had her mentor T.I. publicly renounce his allegiance with her.

Several weeks back, GMA host Josh Elliott asked Azalea has she dealt with all “the negativity,” she was the first to admit it ain’t easy but she still has a few famous peers on her side.

“It’s tough sometimes,” she said with a smile, “but you got to think about the people that support you as well. I grew up loving Missy Elliott, loving Lil Kim or Trina, so I’m lucky that I had those women that I really idolized support me, so I get a little bit confidence knowing those people who I looked up to kind of appreciate what I’m doing.”
