The Toronto Raptors were so close yet so far….

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers won Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals yesterday (May 27) over Drake‘s beloved team with a score of 113-87. This sends King James to his sixth straight Finals appearance. He is the first player in 50 years to reach such an accomplishment.

Drizzy took to Instagram to thank his Raptors for their season, which featured stellar performances from DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. Both players appeared with the hometown rapper on a cover of SLAM magazine. In the 2015-2016 campaign, the Raptors notched a franchise-best 56 wins and this was their first ever appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals.

“Historic season!” Drake writes for the caption of a picture of himself applauding courtside. “Proud to stand behind my city always! Thank you to all the guys for giving us hope and purpose! Congrats to King and the Cavs on making it to the finals and thank you to the Toronto Raptors for having me be apart of this moment!!!”

The Cavaliers will either face the Oklahoma City Thunder or the Golden State Warriors in The Finals. Kevin Durant’s squad is up 3-2 in the Western Conference championship.

The Finals are scheduled to start June 2 and air on ABC.
