More details have emerged about Eminem’s cassette re-release of The Marshall Mathers LP. For $350, you get the cassette tape, a t-shirt, a dog tag chain, and one of 700 bricks recovered from the Detroit home where Eminem spent some of his formative years.
The home, pictured on the covers of both The Marshall Mathers LP in 2000 and its 2013 sequel, was demolished by the state in 2013 after a fire left it damaged.
Eminem posted an image to Instagram of the site, with a caption that said, “On November 20th, 2013 the State of Michigan ordered the demolition of the childhood home of Marshall B. Mathers due to structural safety issues. By reacting quickly, we were able to secure materials from the razed property… ”
The bricks come in their own plexiglass case and are signed by Eminem with a certificate authenticating them. The dog tags are also made from wood recovered from the house.
