The mega success of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War ($700 million worldwide and counting) has set the stage for Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther title, who made his official debut in the film.
Black Panther has a date of February 16, 2018 locked in and The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the studio was able to secure more star power ahead of the early 2017 production date: Michael B. Jordan.
While the burgeoning superstar’s role has not been specified, it’s largely believed he will play a villain. Marvel opted not to comment on the matter altogether.

Jordan, 29, has superhero experience, having played Johnny Storm a.k.a. The Human Torch in the box office bomb, Fantastic Four and may ultimately become the living example on the widespread belief that there is a clear-cut difference between 20th Century Fox and Marvel when it comes to portraying the storied characters.
Black Panther is currently in negotiations to nab Academy Award-winner Lupita Nyong’o to co-star alongside Boseman. The film will also reunite Jordan with his Fruitvale Station and Creed director, Ryan Coogler.
