Bow Wow reveals that he never wanted to rap and instead aspired to be an actor and comedian in a series of Twitter posts on Thursday (May 5).

The Columbus, Ohio rapper, who now goes by his God-given name Shad Moss, has been rapping since he was five years old and was given his moniker “Lil’ Bow Wow” by Snoop Dogg. He appeared in Snoop’s “Gin and Juice” video in 1994.

“My whole life i hated rapping,” Shad tweeted. “Folks dont know that. I always wanted to be a comedian growing up. I wanted to act.”

The 29-year-old made his major movie debut as a leading actor in the 2002 film Like Mike, playing the young Calvin Cambridge. He currently acts in the role of Brody Nelson, an FBI Analyst, on the CBS drama series CSI: Cyber which is in its second season.

“In 5 months of filming i’ll have made more than half of what these rappers make in that 1 year alone,” he says in a tweet.

Bow Wow also was the host of BET’s 106 & Park for two years and recently expressed interest in hosting Good Morning America alongside Kelly Ripa when Michael Strahan departs Live! With Kelly and Michael!

While he’s still contractually obligated to Cash Money Records despite being signed to Bad Boy Records, he asserts that he has lots of music already recorded and he’s taking his time in releasing his next project.

“I got songs,” he tweeted to a fan asking him to do more songs with Omarion. “Tons. Just not really passionate bout the game. Made the money. Been rapping since 5. New place now. I still got my deal. I do what i want. Label cant force me. Paid my dues. I do it when i want. Now aint the time.”
