DJ Quik says Kanye West’s celebrity outweighs his talent, while speaking on The Life Of Pablo.
Compton musician DJ Quik posed a series of questions about Kanye West and the rapper’s The Life Of Pablo album, during an appearance on NoahTV. In regards to one particular question, whether or not Kanye’s celebrity supersedes his talent, DJ Quik responded with “yes.”
He also referred to Kanye as “a Kardashian.”

“Kanye so scared he don’t know what to do with the fuckin’ Life Of Pablo,” DJ Quik said. “Let’s just keep this all the way fuckin’ 100…Do you think it deserves all the hype though? Is this the kind of album that you would really want to go buy to listen and go home to and just [be bragging] to everybody? So, his celebrity supersedes his talent right now? Yes. Come on, he’s a Kardashian now. What the fuck?”
DJ Quik later went on to clarify that he wasn’t dissing Kanye with his comments, and was instead issuing a challenge to the Windy City wordsmith
“This is a challenge. This ain’t a diss. It’s just a challenge. Make your best music. Because fans aren’t stupid. They’re just not,” he said.

DJ Quik is expected to release new music of his own in the very near future. Both DJ Quik and Problem are scheduled to release their collaborative EP, Rosecrans, later today (April 20).
