G Herbo says Kanye West received his Chicago street cred back after appearing on the remix to Chief Keef’s “I Don’t Like” record.
According to G Herbo, prior to the release of “I Don’t Like (Remix),” Kanye wasn’t on the radar when it concerned the younger audience in Chicago. During an interview with Vlad TV, he explained that the rapper may have had older fans in the city, but as far as those younger, they “wasn’t listening to Kanye.”
Herbo later spoke on the impact the “I Don’t Like (Remix)” had on Chief Keef’s career.

“Of course, him jumping on that made a big difference in Sosa career…He knew that was a hard ass song when that song was buzzing in Chicago,” G Herbo said. “And he wanted to get his Chicago cred back. At the time…young street niggas was on our own shit. Wasn’t nobody listening to Kanye at the crib. For the young niggas…We wasn’t listening to Kanye.”
Prior to speaking on “I Don’t Like (Remix),” G Herbo was asked about comments fellow Chicagoan, Young Chop made about Kanye abandoning his city. He went on to explain that ‘Ye isn’t required to work with or help the artists in his city.
The musician added that if someone from Chicago ever has the opportunity to work with Kanye, they need to capitalize on it at that moment.

“I feel like artists shouldn’t take that personally,” he said. “You can’t take that type of shit personal. You got a chance to work with him, you supposed to capitalize off that. Work harder. Make ‘em wanna fuck with you again, type shit…Niggas don’t have to do that. Then at the same time, it’s Kanye. And you gotta know Kanye is Kanye. You feel me? So, you got that legendary status. And then he got that ‘I’m me. I don’t gotta fuck with you’ type attitude, type shit, anyways. If I was to work with Kanye, I would capitalize off of it. Handle my business. And it is what it is.”
