Miami Jackson High School hired Uncle Luke as the defensive coordinator for the Generals football team, the Miami Herald reports.

The 2 Live Crew rapper, born Luther Campbell, was announced alongside Lakatriona Brunson, who is the school’s new head football coach. Brunson is the first woman to be named a football coach in the state of Florida. She is a physical education teacher at the school and starred on the reality television show South Beach Tow as Bernice.

“After the head coach stepped down, I kinda like took a look, ‘Why can’t I do it?'” she says. “Today, it’s true. I’ve got my assistant head coach with me Luther Campbell. We’ve got a great staff with us. We’re just here to change the atmosphere around here at Miami Jackson and get some Ws on the board. I know I can do it. It’s a woman here. There’s gonna be a lot of everything going on, but guess what? I’m gonna show you we can do it just as much as anybody else.”

Uncle Luke was thought to be in contention for the head coaching position when Earl Little stepped down in January. However, he is not a certified teacher and ultimately agreed that Brunson, who is a physical education teacher at Jackson, was the best fit the position.

“I know her since she was a kid,” Campbell says. “I know her mom. She’s a real close friend of the family. She’s always been the girl. In the neighborhood, she’s a legend. She won’t tell you that, but she’s always been the girl in the neighborhood that played football from semi-pro to just street football, football in the streets with every other boy. I’m just happy to be a part of this. This is no circus act under no circumstances because that was one of the first things that I had a conversation with the good folks here. We’re about winning. She’s about winning and I’m just happy to be here to support her.”

Campbell has served as defensive coordinator for Miami Norland, Miami Northwestern and Miami Central high schools.
